Estate boot leaking

Featured Replies

im miffed!! i got the car washed at a local hand wash place when i first got it and located it down to under the spoiler. it dont leak when it rains.

Today i took it through my local Jag car wash as its tip top and im lazy... yet again i had wet Parcel shelf (if thats what you can call it)

I silicone the fk out of under the spoiler between window and spoiler, testing it with a jug it was fine. I siliconed the brake light in the spoiler as i noticed it leak a tiny bit the other day when i cleaned it.

Today, it pored in at the car wash... it comes in from behind the centre plastics on the inside of the tail gate... Im lost for ideas now.. as i say.. its fine when it rains hard, or driven in the rain. its only when washed.

any ideas?

Any chance of an annotated pictured of where the water is pouring in?

could it be coming in from the washer jet,

na water jet aint leaking mate, its only when i give it water from under the spoiler (when washing etc) ill try and animate a pic..

EDIT: i aint got a pic with my tail gate open! lol fail!

i found this pic which explains my leak.

im totally baffed... anyone had this prob?

Where the washer jet goes though or the brake light wiring is my guess. Could even be a rust hole under there! Take the panel off and have a look?

all plastics have been off.. no rust, every thing as it should be. :S

Try taking the plastic off and sitting in the boot while someone soaks it with a hose pipe then see where the leak is?

lol, tried that too.. it comes from inside the tailgate frame work if that makes sense. it just comes through the holes. as i say, it only happens from under the spoiler, i siliconed the **** outta it under there so i dont get it. i thought it was the seal in the top of the window.

how does the brake light come out you know? theres no screws holding it in. its got to be somthing to do with that. :S :'(

Brake light is bonded in m8 bigish job lol

Thought i should put up that i have resolved this issue as to help future forum members.

and the culpret was.......

the bloody spoiler!

I think it was a case of leaving it to get worse before i could find it as i first off checked the spoiler. I very small bit of silly cone along the spoilers edge at top of tailgate and there is no more leaky. Happy days! il will wash it more now!
