A Big Thanks 2 R-Tech!

Featured Replies

My day @ R-Tech

Booked my car in with R-Tech for a full custom stage 2 map with Oil Catch Can, PCV, SAI and N249 delete mods.

Drove there yesterday to meet the guys at 9am, immediately put my car on the ramps and started to remove all the PCV, SAI, N249 and then fabricated a custom catch tank there and then for me to fit the battery box perfectly.

Fitted the resistors that I had already made and blocked off with the forge EGR plate.

At this point they checked for boost leaks, fixed a few and started to begin the mapping.

My car was boost surging all over the place and still managed to pull 224bhp out of the box, but this was at 4,000rpm and then had no power afterwards.

Over the course of 3 hours cleared the celtic map, loaded R-Tech's stage 2 base map and tweaked that to Taylor my car perfectly to achieve 245bhp and 250ftlb's!

The time came to 4pm and Nick took me out for a test drive and I was blown away with how quick it was! The power was smooth, gradual and linear. Nick also explained that Launch Control was coded into the spec 2 map and instructed me how to activate it. WOW this really makes a difference!

Nick went into great depth about the mapping process, had plenty of time to answer any questions that I had and made me feel welcome!

I am well and truly chuffed with the outcome and made up with R-Tech! I read all the reviews over the months and chose them to work on my car. Really glad that I did as its so refreshing to find a place that does excellent work, has excellent staff and provides an excellent service!

I'll be taking all of my cars their in future!

how much did they charge you for all that much fun?

How does it compare to stage 1.. i've nearly got all the bits for a stage 2 but need to bite the bullet and get it done really.

I already have a custom stage 1 from them on my car so wonder if i'd get a discount on the stage 2 map

There is no one better at the moment and still one of the cheapest

The car is in a different league to stage 1. It just pulls as hard as it does in 2nd gear when its in 5th!

Cost £290 for a full custom stage 2 map

how much was the n249 and sai delete?

been lookin at the n249 and sai delete myself , do they make much difference at all

cheers

my plan is to go stage 2 pretty soon, i shall try r-tech i think B)

whats it boost too now? 1.2bar?

Wheres the after graph? :)

How does the launch control work? Is it pre-spooling the turbo?

How does the launch control work? Is it pre-spooling the turbo?

anti lag is where it keeps the turbo spinning on idle so no lag, launch control would be some way of limiting the revs when the turbo is under no load i.e at a standstill

It's probably using the same process as the ASR then I guess?

i wouldnt even think id be as complex as that, it will just be a limit on the revs so you can hold it at 3500rpm or somewhere and get minimal wheelspin off the line, instead of just flooring it and wheelspin galore. Be interesting to hear a tuners point of view, the new fabia vrs can only be reved to about 4k in neutral, so must just be something in the ecu that can be edited

Is that with a hybrid turbo mate?

Thats a good price....im tempted to do it myself!

Is that with a hybrid turbo mate?

No that's a k03s and a good mapper mapping it ;-)

The launch control is epic it was written into the me7 ecu by nick ;-)

So what do you need for a stage 2?

Complete octavia newbie here :o

The basic requirements are a full turbo-back exhaust system and sports cat or decat pipe and ideally a good front mounted intercooler.

Revo stg 2 requires a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator too.

You can also do other mods like turbo inlet pipe, cold air intake, inlet manifold gasket, high flow manifold etc... if it's a full custom map some places will take these into account with the map.

Ideally you will have sorted out the brakes and suspension first too (before even doing a stg 1 remap)

Big Jase, don't listen to others when they say you need hundreds of parts and thousands of pounds for stage 2. It only cost me £800 in parts for the bits I needed after buying good second hand parts over time.

All you need is a sports cat/decat with a good catback exhaust, decent clutch, turbo intake pipe, Panel Filter with a cold air feed and a front mount intercooler. That's it.

My car is completely standard apart from the mod's in my sig

The PCV, SAI and N249 delete are just preventative maintenance. To stop future boost leaks, to keep the engine clean (egr is gone) and the catch can is too keep the intake, boost pipes clean of crud and of course oil! You don't have to do any of the stuff I did, its just preference and how bored you are. Mine was boost surging which was partly the crap celtic map that was done by the previous owner, and partly was the n249 valve which electronically controls the opening and closing of the DV. Once gone, with a proper map it pulls strong with no surging.

I was going to do the Oil Catch Can, PCV, SAI and N249 delete but my holidays where running out at work, so took the advantage and booked myself in R-Tech to get it all done on the day. Sometimes its just easier to get the pro's to finish something you'll never get round to do.

As far as the launch control goes, its all setup within the map so it holds itself at 4ishk and spools the turbo at 8ish psi, limits the power until 25kph is reached, then releases the full power of the car. Nick's tested and perfected this at the Pod, and it shows! Just need a dry day to see what the times are.

An example when it was in early development -

Plus Trevor, isn't 4K in a diesel considered the red line? :D

Well i can get a ko4 turbo for peanuts off my bud, he's got a full s3 avy engine, pretty sure he has a forge intercooler and a g60 clutch?

Tbh i dont want to go crazy i want it to look stock

Was thinking h&r springs, lcr splitter, cai (painted black), forge 007p in black, remap and cruise control

emoticon-0143-smirk.gif i wonder how it compares tosay revo or apr stage 2 remaps?

iirc when i had apr stage 2 it rollered at 225 and 237lbs on the tsr rollers emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

do everywheres rolling roads give the same figures?? or are some harsh and some generous

emoticon-0143-smirk.gif wheres r-tech

im guessing not r-tec who im thinking of emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Do your research Lloyd, R-Tech rollers are true, if not a little conservative. Most cars that go for power runs at club meets pull over 10+bhp more than what R-Tech gave.

Stealth are one of THE most optimistic rolling roads going too btw. My golf mk2 gti got 125bhp in standard trim there with the graph to prove. Had a power run at awesome at a club day. The car felt quicker and only put out 108bhp. Go figure!

Rolling roads differ depending on calibration and how well they stay calibrated.

Anywho, i wasnt even thinking they were telling porkie pies

I just wondered if they all say the same :smirk:
