Popped out in the Yeti to buy a newspaper ...

... this morning, February 5th. Got some video too, which I'll try to upload a link to later. So pleased with Betty's performance (and the Goodyear 4 Seasons) ... down and then back up our hill/farmtrack with not a single slip. We have a handful of neighbours on the hillside, all of whom had parked their cars (including two Freelanders, a Discovery, a Landcruiser, and a Rav 4) three quarters of a mile away at the bottom of the hill because based on last winter's experience they would not be able to get up/down

Going down the hill ...

Personally i wouldn't leave the film up there.

Displaying a photo of your reg then a film clip of you driving whilst holding a hand held recording device may not be your smartest move .... it's your licence though.

Hi Bob,

first photo reminds me of the lane I managed a 180 spin with the first Yeti on summer sports tyres, thankfully there was a small grass bank to stop you going over the edge :o

My trip to the shops was not so challenging being fairly flat, did however prove the Hankooks a good choice of winter tyre. Tried flooring the throttle (ASR on, off road off) in a deserted car park in town (mixture of fresh and compacted snow). No sliding about or detectable wheel spin just pulled away cleanly as normal, other than a couple of 'bangs' from the back as the systems did their thing.

Thanks for the advice, but since it's a private road there's no issue. And anyway - who says I was holding the 'device' or indeed that it was 'hand held'? Coming back up the hill ...

Well you know the road better than most, but I would question the legality of it not being an issue when the road is clearly used by other members of the public / residents.

How steep is the hill?

Camera's never seem to show gradiants, who beleives they don't lie! :)

Pretty steep in parts, our house is 800 feet up a Pennine hillside. I've been down it on a pair of skis in the past. Even in dry conditions I climb most of the hill in first gear - there are just two places where I get into second for a brief while.

Mmmm, the lad I passed is one of my neighbours, but the track is 'off road'. Whilst we do get members of the public passing by they are 'trespassing' when they do so, it is a private farm track which we own/maintain.

Great vids, love them... :)

Yes- and somebody may be traumatised just by watching it......

What an AMAZING view!!!!! I'm soo jealous. From my back deck I have a view of this (The London Orbit):

Not quite the same is it?! :giggle: They've built a fair bit more of it since this was taken in August. Just to the left of it (and out of shot) is the Olympic stadium and the Aquatics Centre is on the right. Will be an interesting view during the opening and closing ceremonies this August but I think I prefer your view Bobdog!

Looking at going for the Goodyear all seasons when I get mine so good to hear they seem to be as good as other winter tyres!

I've not tried any others, but for the last two winters (2wd and summer tyres) I've had to park my car at the bottom of the hill and walk three quarters of a mile home each day for about two weeks. OK, this winter we've only had the snow for a couple of days, but the Yeti and the Goodyears have had no problem - straight up!

Is that the 'bulb out' warning light on the dash?

The Goodyear Vector 4Seasons are the best of the all-season tyres. They can't match the performance of the best winter tyres in snow, and they also have some weakness in the wet. Nor of course can they match summer tyres for either wet or dry performance at higher temperatures. Still, if it's a compromise you're after and not out-and-out best performance, they are a good choice. They also excel for wear rate.

Evidence is here: http://www.filedropper.com/4071tcs-testpneushiver-2010serie65185-65r15tfr , bearing in mind that the best of the 2011 winter tyres are better than any in that review, while the Vector 4Seasons is unchanged.

Yup, must get round to replacing it :giggle:
