Has he put them on right?

Standard hoses fit just fine.

yeah i left the original hoses on when i did mine :wonder:

He has put calipers on wrong sides. so the one he has on drivers needs to go on passenger side and vice versa

I fitted mine yesterday, not a problem getting them too fit

mine went on last week, no problems here also

OK thats what I've read but they say definately won't fit - have ordered Ovtavia ones from Eurocarparts so fingers croseed they will - at leat 40mm longer than Fabia one I'm told.

Hope the connections are the same

Honestly mate, no other parts needed. Make sure they have the hose connection at the top of the caliper not the bottom.

I wouldnt like calipers on the wrong way up...

have you got a link to the ones you bought first time? maybe you bought some 5x112 ones?

They're right.

As said, make sure that the hose connection is at the top, and the bleed nipple at the bottom.

I'm betting they are on the wrong way up.

Them calipers are spot on mate, no hoses required. Get them to see where the hose connects to the caliper if they say at the bottom they have them on the wrong sides.

If the connection is near the top of the caliper the hoses on your car must be short for some odd reason...

a little concerning that a mechanic has not thought of this :S

It will be interesting to see how he bleeds them if he has them on the wrong sides.

Just to make sure I'm not going to look like a Tw*t - this is the caliper they tried to fit on the offside

dose this look right to you

cheers

That looks like the passengers side mate.

cheers mate - will the bleed nipple be on top then - no expert on brakesas you can see

bleed nipple needs to be at the top. The pic is of a nearside caliper.

getting confused now as just found this which is stated as left caliper for Octavia which is exactly the same as mine

this is an offside caliper, the nipple will be at the top.

Ignore my post as i edited it after you quoted it! Got confused myself!

Your post #15 which shows your caliper would have the nipple at the bottom if fitted to the offside. which by deduction makes it the nearside caliper, so theyre fitting it to the wrong side. Theyll also be impossible to bleed up if the nipple is at the bottom.

Great Stuff - cheers mate - car going back on friday but bit worried now that they can't dtermine which side is which - will pick up hoses anyway and get refund if not needed

thanks to everyone yet again for help and advice

Bleed nipples are always on top as you wouldn't get the air out fully if it was on the bottOm

my mechanic had this exact problem, put them on the wrong sides and they didn't fit. I'm sure if they are swapped they definitely do fit and it's not a massive stretch of the original hose either. Good luck mate
