Fitting Coilovers

Featured Replies

Right folks, I am booked in to have a set of coilovers fitted on Friday.

My car has done 100k, so I'm guessing that it's wise to also replace bump stops and the top mounts.

Are the top mounts sided?

Are top mounts for rear needed?

This is a list of what I have got to order so far:

2x top mount: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1452

2x bearing: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=180

2x front bump stop: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=182

2x rear bump stop: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=184

Anything else that I'd need to get?

Replace bushes on antiroll bar with poly ones and new droplinks. Theparts are not too dear if you have everything off and doing for wheel alighnment saves in the long run

Might be worth looking at track rod ends and droplinks also if they haven't been changed, IIRC track rod ends were £8 and droplinks no more than £12-£16 I'd imagine. ARB bushes are a good idea as well as console bushes if they are still oem.

Droplinks and console bushes only a few months old.

Various ARB bushes are listed here: http://www.vwspares....asuspension.php

Any idea what size is required for the vRS?

19mm i ordered for my vRS mate.

What coilovers you getting? you shouldnt need front bump stops as they are normally included in the coilover kit?

And for the rear bump stops get the ibiza cupra ones, they are much shorter and therefore ideal for coilover applications.
