badge snobbery,maybe

Featured Replies

I was in my local audi dealership today with a friend who was looking at the A3.I was curious to see if audi would service a skoda.I asked the service department and they said they can't service a skoda because they can't source the parts and that skoda use a different oil.Bit confused as VW/AUDI/SKODA/SEAT seem to share out most of there parts or was audi being a bit snobberish regarding the badge ?.

Badge snob!!........MKI Fabia uses alot of the same engine, brakes, suspension as A2.......New MKII Uses the same/similar as A1......rear bushes on MKI Fabia same as A3.....want me to go on??????.... :giggle:

Talking of badge snobbishness....

Arnold Clark have bought the Skoda dealership in Inverness. They have now just built a new single building but divide in two "double showroom" opposite Halfords........when you look at it the right half is Volvo...the left half is Skoda....... :giggle: ........

So would sir like to spend HOW F###ing much on a top end Volvo estate.......or get a Superb for alot less??????

I doubt you would want to pay audi prices anyway.

Dont drag Skoda down to Audi's level , use a proper agent :giggle:

Wouldn't want them working on a Skoda anyway, I doubt it would receive the same care because "it's only a Skoda".

Surverys show time and again that Skoda dealer customer service is better.

Just thought i would ask them while i was there.Only use skoda to service my car.I know in the past i have also asked VW and SEAT and they said no problems with servicing a skoda. While i was in skoda a while ago i asked do you service audis and the reply was YES...So badge snobbery it is.... :giggle:

Could you imagine the fuss if you pulled up in a top end Skoda Superb and parked it next to a same spec A6 sitting on the forecourt!!!!............I hope those rings on the badge are solid gold for that price.........

WAIT!!!!...........What to do is then walk in and ask a salesman how much an A6 to the same spec as your current car would cost......"what car is that sir"..."that one out there".......salesman goes out and has look.........you really could have fun with this!!!!!...

VW wouldn't do SWMBOs Seat on their fixed price servicing.

But they offered to do my cambelt on the same deals.

Would have thought any VAG dealer would be happy to get more business.

My dealer services all VAG but only started doing SEAT recently to coincide with starting to sell them. I was in there last week and, interested all factors that may influence a new car decision asked about labour rates. Sure enough they confirmed that the rate I get on my Skoda wouldn't be the same as the rate they'd offer should I have an A3.

I had an Audi dealer service my Octavia. They were more than happy and treated it as a combination of the A3 and A4.

Actually wasn't bad value compared to Skoda dealer's offering.

MPM :D

When I was in Audi looking at ordering a TT-RS I parked in the only available space... backed up to the showroom window right by the door. A spot they usually have a demo car in. (RS5 etc...)

I was driving my Fabia Greenline Estate. :giggle:

The manager came out and started to loudly ask the staff who had parked the Skoda in the display space. He thought it belonged to a member of staff.

When he realised it was me he came over for a chat and admitted when I was leaving that Skoda have come a long way, they are as reliable as Audi now.

Bits all come off the same store up at Tamworth. Many Skoda engine have more VAG marks on them than Skoda ones.

Audi Dealers hourly rate is much higher than Skodas, probably about a third ie around £100 ph!

That made me chuckle :D

Audi Bedford were more than happy to service my Octy, the only reason they don't is cos Skoda CS wouldn't allow it.

Never had anything than excellent service from them. The badge snobbery is the type where people say the rings on the front are extra pounds on the price.
