I've got the use of a vRS for a week and after only 1 day I'm thinking "crikey this is quick". The box seems to be smoother than in my Octy vRS which is also DSG and I can't believe it's only 10 bhp more than mine. I'll update this thread at the weekend with final thoughts.

shhhhhh...else every Octavia vRS owner will want one!! The gear change is incredible, your in 6th gear before you realise, there is none of the seasick lurching of auto boxes of the past (I know, it's a semi). Looking forward to your final thoughts, er is it hesitant at roundabouts??

I test drove one and thought the same. In fact i would have had one had it not being for the awful quality of the interior. It looks so cheap compared to mine and i hate any kind of knocks or rattles....

I think it feels so quick because it is a hell of a lot smaller so you can throw it around easier. Its the same when i drive my friends XJ8 3.6 V8. It is clearer quicker but handles like a barge so then when i get back into mine it is like a go kart.....The Jag is great for eating up miles on the motorway though

People have said the Fabia shoots off quicker than the Octy VRS and over the Diesel I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

I've had a few people comment on how incredibly smooth the gear changes are! It's awesome! Although I am starting to ever so slightly miss the lurch of a manual :(

Kickdown provides a bit of a 'kick' that you might miss in a manual?

My superb 170DSG WEIGHS about 1550kg and is about twice the size??

Lots of differing quoted weights... the old one was fat because of the diesel lump.

No...but the ride is shocking - just like the Seat Leon FR - I miss my vRS for that even though it's no taxi...
