SWMBO seems to be having an intermittent fault on her Seat (ABS light).

I was thinking about getting something to read the error code from the car, and which would be suitable for the Octy too.

I've read about the VAGCOM lots on here but I'm not forking out £300ish for the full version.

I just want to read the codes and ideally be able to clear them. I'm not interested in enabling any features or tinkering.

Is the the sort of thing that would do the job -

Spend the extra few quid and get this one, At least you have some support and come back if there's an issue with the unit!

I have one of there and its very hit and miss. A friend has the Gendan one and it has significantly more functionality.

Bought a Gendan to put out the 'coolant ' light on my son's Fabia 1 and then lent it to son-in-law who put out low brake fluid light on daughter's Polo - simples! He is no mechanic but computer & gaget savvy.

So like the other post says - paid for itself in 2 uses. ALSO the Gendan people really helpful on e.mail queries.

Not sure if you can use it to change things like one click or two to unlock all doors. Anyone know what else you can use Gendan for?

The Gendan in post #2 is just a basic code reader/resetter and won't enable you to do any form of tweaking. I bought one for peace of mind after my remap and check it every few weeks for any fault codes. Apparently my automatic transmission is faulty. No surprise as it's a manual

Of course if you find somebody with VCDS they can code it so your car doesn't think it's got an auto
