Alpine and K-Line

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have just purchased an Alpine CDE-123R to replace the standard Symphony radio in my 03 Octavia vrs.

I also intend very shortly to get VCDS and was looking through the Ross-Tech Wiki which makes mention of an aftermarket radio problem linked to the k-line wiring.

Can I disable this so as not to shred my Ross Tech lead when I get it or is the Alpine standard harness sufficiently complex to deal with this problem at source - i.e. internally in the unit or harness?.

Finally, very briefly, I have been searching some other threads that mention a finisher plate when fitting the radio, is this required on a mk1 Octavia?, as I cant see one on the ICE website that I ordered the radio from.

Many thanks in advance.

Phil

Mk1 octy don't need a surround as the hole is double din. With the k line just don't plug it in (sure i read that).

Dont forget you may need red and yellow swapping round if it doesn't remember the settings

Cheers, just re-read the thread in depth - got a headache now - from what I can see, the linking wire that would equate to the k-line wiring from the factory loom is not present in the alpine loom to the radio, so by the looks of it the problem is solved.
