1.6 FSI ABS pump failure

Featured Replies

Last week on starting my 3 year old Octavia, the ABS, Traction control and PAS warning lights all came on. Driving down the road the speedometer would not work and the fuel gauge needle was playing up.

It has been to my Skoda garage in Abergele today and they have determined that the fault is caused by either a faulty ABS pump or a faulty instrument panel, but they think it is more likely to be the pump.

The car was first registered in Aug 2007, has a full Skoda service history with approximately 34,000 miles on the clock.

I am grateful for reviewing some past topics on the issue with the ABS pump and as a result of speaking with the garage, I phoned Skoda customer services, pointing out to them the anecdotal evidence of this fault and previous actions by VAG.

I now await their response.

Any additional advice would be welcome for my first Skoda in over 35 years of driving. Only bought it in July 2011!

Kind regards

The G201 fault will not cause speedo issues.

However I would think a goodwill claim is a good ask with the service history etc, might get a good contribution.

Many thanks for your advice.

Bald minor celebrity Dominic Littlewood will be airing his show "against" VW on this matter in April I believe. ( Dont get done get Dom on channel BBC1 )

It has been recorded, and those involved have either now had their TevesMK60 pump/sensor fixed FOC OR had their costs reimbursed from the repair.

VW have now reimbursed 2 guys on the facebook page who had the work done at independents.

( My wife's 2006 GT TDi failed last year @ 40k miles , which we had repaired )

Will be interesting to see Skoda's stance if VW's changes.
