1.2 12v Information

Featured Replies

Hello, I have just purchased a 09 fabia with a 1.2 12v engine from my brother. My friend has warned me that the 1.2 12v in the mk1 fabia had a common problem with the timing chain jumping. Has this been fixed for the mk2 or is the problem still ther

I'm on my second 1.2 12v, no problems at all.

He is correct.

It is a pretty common problem.

The chain and tensioner stretch and become loose. The chain can then jump and/or snap.

A revised kit was released many years ago back on the MK1 Fabia so that 09 car should be fine.

Mine's 2008 reg, is mine fine?

Yep all Mk2 Fabia's have the upgraded engine which has a different engine code to the Mk1 Fabia, although later Mk1's were fine too.

The 1.2 htp has a reputation for being a very reliable robust unit.
