Any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi, new here :) I've posted this in the intro section already, but I thought i'ld post it here too, seeing as I might get more of a response.

I dont have a Skoda, but my mum has an 08 Fabia Sport. I just thought I'ld try and find out on here if there are any direct replacement media systems that would fit her car? I dont mean a regular double din with a facia, I mean any made to measure after market units.

Ideally, I want to get her something that has sat nav and more importantly, a reversing camera built in. I have had a quick look at the ZENEC E>GO unit, but it doesnt list the Fabia as a compatible vehicle I dont know if this can be confirmed?

If it's unsuitable, are there any other units that members could recomend?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm currently at the same situation. Trying to find something to replace my original DANCE radio. I've been thinking about Bolero, Amundsen and Columbus as well as an aftermarket one (2din Pioneer or Kenwood). It seems that it isn't just plug and play kind of situation. From what I've read, everything need either VAG-COM remapping or wiring that costs over 100 euros here in Finland and Can bus 1.6->2.0.

Maybe it's just easier to upgrade the speakers and forget about the radio replacement. I don't know anyone from around here (Finland) that has VAG-COM and I'm a bit clumsy when it comes to electronics. So I guess me actually installing it myself is out of the question. It just seems that the costs are going to climb a lot if I take it to a shop (2din player, wiring, assembly fees, speakers, can bus, VAG-COM etc.) It seems to be very hard and I'm the kind of person that gets frustrated when something isn't working correcly so if I try to install it myself it propably ends in frustration.

Sorry for not being really helpful :)

To rip out the OEM stereo and fit a replacement aftermarket single or double din size stereo is easy and does not need VAG-COM.

If you need to show info from the stereo on the full Maxi-dot dash display you might need a connector/adaptor electronic block (not 100% certain). Best to ask the stereo maker....have you tried Pioneer???

Info on stereo wiring, adaptors, facia fill-in plates, etc, for Fabias

Thanks for the link. Not sure if I understand with all the pins etc. Do I have to do any soldering or does for example Pioneer provide clips which are plug & play kind of solution? I just remembered that the wiring (that costs over 100e) is if I want the remote control on the wheel to work. I guess this is what I need if I plan on changing to pioneer for example. http://www.accessories.skoda.co.uk/productdetail.aspx?p_no=AZA700001A

Does the fascia come with the new Pioneer or where to get one that fits with Pioneer?

I know I could get any after market stereo with a facia plate, but I was hoping for something that looked a little OEM.

I have a Vauxhall and there are a couple of after market, plug & play multi media systems that fit directly into the OEM space and look totally original, but give you Digital TV - Sat nav - Reversing cam - DVD - Bluetooth handsfree, that kind of thing, all from a 6.5 inch touch screen unit. I was hoping that there was an eqivelant for the Fabia. It seems not :/

My mum loves the unit I have in my Zafira, and wants the same kind of thing in her Fabia.

I'll try to make this more understandable for me. Or hopefully you can.

If I want this fitted for my 2008 Skoda Fabia with maxi-dot, dance-radio and remote control on the side of the wheel. What parts do I need (wiring, VAG-COM? etc.) for the installation? Hopefully someone can help.

As always check with the maker of the stereo.....for compatability with maxi dot etc......as for the pins...no soldering...stereos usually come with a small adaptor loom...vag/din to makers connection on the back of the stereo...if they don't then get on from Halfords........For my Pioneer I got a VAG to DIN adaptor loom (cost less than £15) because i wanted to do something else that the supplied one by Pioneer couldn't do)....... I'm guessing there are no such units then?

im sorry if this is a little off the orginal topic but i have a pioneer AVIC-F9110BT unit, it has a harness on the back which plugs into the oe loom, theres also a small black box supposedly for the steering wheel controls, however the volume dial on the steering wheel doesnt work still, the other buttons do strangely enough, anyone know why this is happening?
