ECO driving

Featured Replies

Bet you thought I'd never be posting anything like this emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

Well, for all the ECO guys out there, I had a 100 mile round trip to Carlisle this evening and as the roads were relatively quiet, I stuck to all speed limits and logged the average fuel consumption for my car.

Skoda Fabia VRS 1.4TSi

Revo Stage 1 - 200bhp

Maxogen ITG

Iridium plugs

Mileage - 2450

Outside temp - 2 degrees

Average after 104 miles - 46.3 mpg.

The reset was activated when I hit the 40 limits. The run will be familiar to the Cumbria guys on here. Of course, 'normal' driving has only seen about 30-32 mpg.

Anyway, I'm off now to fetch the pipe & slippers. OOPS, thought I was driving a diesel for a minute emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I've just driven back from terminal 2 Manchester, -4 and a 100 trip at cruise 70 at 2 in the morning, 64.5 mpg, but that's good mpg for a vrs , now where did I put the shag n pipe

Interested to know what Iridium plugs are and what benefits they bring. Would they benefit a non-modified engine? Mine's a 1.6 Fabia 2 BTS engine.

Good effort Jon ;) will get better with miles :)

Nice - just been out for a warm up drive as the car hasnt' been used for a week due to snow! (been picked up for work luckily) driving tomorrow lol

Managed 44mpg average tootling around on A/B roads and town.

ANother thing I love is the fuel gauge - left with 210 miles range, drove 15 miles, got back and had 215 miles range B)

i bet that type of driving almost killed you :giggle:

now what size slippers do you require ;)

Question.

Why on Earth did Skoda decide that the fuel gauge have to be in increments of 1 litre ? emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

I did wave, but it was too late. My Wife said "who's that" and I replied "one of the VRS boys"

She said "you're a sad bugger" emoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Yeah, I think that's what got my attention to that side of the road in the first place, then I saw the elusive white VRS that I'd seen a fair few times. Does your missus drive it as well ? Don't want to be waving at her like a wierdo emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

I double checked tyre pessures yesterday and were a bit low as I thought. MPG instantly went to mid to high 30's round town. I'm not shy of the throttle pedal either and lately, rather childishly I wind the windows down, stick it in 2nd and boot it to hear the supercharger and turbo. Love it :giggle: It sounds even better with colder air

20mpg in a vRS @ 70? Only If it's broken. I had 46mpg+ going up to Preston and back. Coming back I was pushing hard too. I didn't buy for economy I bought for fun. As for comfort I'd driven for nearly 8 hours, got home and still wanted to drive somewhere else.

That's a great point. The ride (even in my lowered car) really is good on a long trip. The seats are superb, always liked them. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

No although I was tempted. Why?

Not yet lol. I had a look at your thread on it but where does the pipe go? Does it just sit behind the battery/light or is it guided anywhere?

I do the same round town, vrrrrrrrr whizzzzz hisss! Sounds cool reverberating off the walls or under bridges. I took mine out tonight for a nice drive (45mpg average) then a fun drive 33mpg average. She's done 590miles now :-) running her in nicely.

Yeah, it has an rectangular section at the end (about 6 inches) that fits between the battery and inner wing skin. works nicely.

nope, i wear the pants here :o , seriously though she hates any car i buy, regardless, and never wants to drive so thatll be the other white VRs ive seen twice myself and they never waved either :'(
