To Mod or Not

Featured Replies

Bought my 2005 vRS last October and it was my intention to have it as a sort of stop gap car (job wasnt assured so bought it until things bacame clearer).

Now my job future looks brighter I am thinking of replacing it but then I was thinking that I actually like it a lot more than I thought I would, so my other option is to throw some money at it.

As per previous posts I have had a few niggles with it so things I would change I hope would sort some of these things as well as generally improving it.

Things I am considering to do are: Cupra splitter, re-map, lower 25-35mm, nicer wheels, leather interior, rarb, better brakes. These things are for starters and I am working out the costs to see if its worth it or not.

The only issue I have is that my car is pretty well specced and it has the OEM satnav, maxidot, under seat CD player. Now the OEM satnav is ok but its old technology (CD based) and is really crappy to use compared to modern touchscreen systems.

This is something I want to replace but is there a double din satnav system that is compatible with the under seat CD and still puts info on the Maxidot display.

Thanks

Right......Pioneer seem to do the best double din stuff...best asking them.....the cd should work all ok....but as for the maxi dot??.....There could be a connection/converter lead for it...."connects2" leads????....again ask Pioneer.

AS for better brakes...get the 256 rear disc conversion..using OEM parts (you can use an EBC disc and pad)....from the MKI Octavia I think?

Fronts same again...but using the Seat LCR Bembros (4 pot caliper) and 323???? size disc.....

Best checking some of the members build threads on this site......

AS for is it worth it???..........hhhhmmmmmmmm........if it makes it stop, go, or corner better then .....YES it is worth it!!!!.... :giggle:

are you from UK? I suppose if your in a different country some parts maybe cheaper/more expensive to buy.

i.e. im sure theres other versions of the rarb but in uk its whiteline or jabba. (1st 'must do' mod to do as many say on the forums).
