Roof Bars - I've made a mistake

Featured Replies

I had my bars for my old vRS and the only difference would be feet to fit on rails instead of holes. Fitted the back pair no problems, come to the front and they're too small. I'm gutted! So all that hassle of finding the feet on eBay, paying £60 for them and it was a waste. Looks like I'll be phoning Skoda in the morning to order the ones they supply (still Thule). That's me another £136 lighter

Edit: The feet are perfect it's just the car is wider at the front

I have these on my Passat and Fabia.

They are bar manufacturers for Audi, VW, Merc, BMW and many more. They also won Autoexpress Best Roof Bars

They are £95 for the Fabia Estate with roof rails.

Just search the above site.

Cheers

I've managed to find new bars, same as my old ones but for £32 so in total with the feet I have it's £90. Expect to see bars for sale soon in the For Sale section

Bars fitted. Took all of 2 mins and same to remove. Added Animal covers too but I'll be securing these otherwise they'll go missing. Sorry for pic quality

Suppose the consolation is that the bars are Thule. Fantastic company to deal with and great quality.

Looks smart to me Martyn.

Yeah 5 year warranty on both the feet and the bars. Even though the bars are basic ones they feel quality, don't add much weight to the car but can support 100kg if I need it. Kayak is 25kg even with some bits in it

You can even notice in that pic that one is longer than the other. Many cars are wider at the front than the back. I'd measure the distances between your rails and ask him how long his bars are

Is there a set of bars out there that will fit both a Fabia and an octavia?

Is there a set of bars out there that will fit both a Fabia and an octavia?

Yes. I've just bought a pair of bars from Lidl today at £26.99! The packaging lists the cars they will fit - certainly my Skoda Fabia Scout and Octavia Post 2005 are mententioned in the list. They are aluminium and are lockable with 2 supplied keys. They will support up to 100kg but max 70kg for Skoda is recommended in the handbook. Go to Lidl website to view, but be quick as limited stock.

I made the exact same mistake!!!!

Glad I'm not the only one!

I just bought new foot plates for the estate and then quickly found that I needed 1.20m bars.

Luckily I got some cheap.
