revo stage 2 :)

Recommended Posts

Little review for all to read

Yesterday i spent a couple of hours in Revo HQ getting stage 2 installed so here goes

I pulled out of the Revo HQ got on to some a roads a to be honest the car felt marginally better. Trundled down the m1 in masses of traffic so didn't really get to play much however the increase in torque was noticeable as the car didn't need to keep changing down to 5th and 6th.

HOWEVER

Put me foot down getting on the a414 and by christ the car came alive. The pull its got now is ridiculous especially from 4k upwards. It feels like a genuinely quick car now. I've gone from standard to a full. blown stage 2 with Itg and full milltek.

System so the change is far more noticable for me than someone going from stage 1 to 2.

After 100 or so miles with the software in can say im supremely happy with all aspects of it from the customer service to the actual software and would absolutely recommed these guys to anyone. Only downside i can see is the need to replace the Tyres more often as they was spinning up if i put me foot down in 2nd and 3rd while i was on the move

And this is all from setting b with momentum as i couldn't get vpower on the way up

I'll update about MPG in the next few days.

Any questions ask away people

On another note The milltek system has also come alive and at full chat sounds amazing. A real whooshing sound.

Will be getting rr soon so will have to wait and see the result but expecting around the 220 - 230 mark as Hurdy with same setup got 226bhp.

Sounds great ;-) did you have stage 1 prior to this pitbull? I had a revo on my mk1 vrs and was quite aggressive, in the end the tuner changed it for a custom map for me (which didnt ask for as much boost early on). How this compares to the mk2 is something I am yet to find out.

No i had standrard map with Itg, milltek tbe and forge recirc kit. It does seem quite aggressive but i like it. At the end of the day you don't have to use all the power but nice to know its there when needed

sounds terrific... may I ask how you're dealing or plan to deal with increased temps? I may have missed it but have you changed the intercooler / radiator as well?

Pro alloy are doing a radiator and intercooler package for me in about 2 months time. It will be a seriously performance orientated bit of kit. If any one is interested ill enquire about a group buy type thing.

Hurdys was with decat miltek TBE, ITG and water meth. He reckons his water meth gives him about 10-12Hp so 215-220Hp should be a good aim on dynodynamics rollers.

car/engine : VW Polo GTI 1.4 TSi

Tuner/stage settings : REVO Stage 2 setting "C"

Engine Modifications : ITG CAI, Milltek TBE, NGK plugs, Devil's Own water methanol injection

Id imagine yours should be somewhere in between Jasons cupra and Hurdys Hybrid. If its dyno dynamics i think you will see somewhere between 215Hp-220hp based on the dyno graphs above all same software, dyno and operator etc.

YOu've done it the best way IMO. stock to stage 2 is awesome. You'll notice a big difference with an intercooler on long runs as well. I was torn between Pace and Pro alloy for my intercooler. Pace were quicker to answer my emails so they got the job, both specialise in intercoolers and radiators and develop everything in house unlike Forge who just buy in intercooler cores and hash them together and sell them at the big dollar

I agree with Sy. 215 bhp or thereabouts for a stage 2 Revo'd car with TBE and intake sounds about right. This should be around 235bhp ish on Maha or sun rollers. Mine was 236bhp on a Sun roller at stage 2 setting B.

Thats the thing though, from one day to the next and on differing rollers etc theres so much scope for a range of figures. Id actually suspect this low boost 251Hp map im running is actually 10-15Hp less on a dyno dynamics roller, Good for a forum discussion though. I think the only directly comparative test we can do is the 30-130mph tests, in gear performances like 2nd/3rd gear 30-50,mph, 4th/5th gear 50-70mph and maybe the terminal speeds of a 1/4 mile run. The actual times arent that respective as its alot of human factor involved with the launch, but the terminals will show how quick a car is. A good launch wont make for a good terminal, but even with a bad launch you will still get a half decent terminal if you have the power under you.

What dyno are you going for?

Looking forward to finding out the bhp on this! Any thoughts on MPG yet?

If you get a remap, is it quite a good idea to get a new radiator/intercooler package? I understand the benefits of upgrading, especially for track and drag strip use now after reading some of these threads, and just wondered weather it would be needed for the road? The standard ones should cope fine with a bit extra power/heat in short bursts from time to time shouldn't they? Thanks

If your just going stage 1 i wouldnt bother either tbh. If your going stage 2 or further then IMO its a must because heat soak is a big thing on these in the summer if your mapped. I was suffering with pretty large amounts of heatsoak last summer on this.

In traffic is where these suffer the most though as they arent getting the air flow to reduce the temps

@P1TTBULL - you mentioned above that you had ITG, milltek TBE, etc before you went stage2.

Doesn't the milltek TBE require a stage2 remap or were you able to run this without the remap without any issues?

You will normally end up with a check engine light flash up after the fitting of the downpipe. Fault codes normally hype on about high emissions or inefficient flow etc it wont cause any damage just that the car will end up with a weird AFR as it tries to adjust to the extra flow etc. Some guys get the light straight away, others after 300-400 miles some not at all.

The stage 2 map will turn off that sensor, and adjust the fueling and map etc to suit.

I personally didn't have a light come up but i could smell petrol through the exhaust before the map so i wouldn't say problem free and would definitely not have it fitted if i wasn't going to map it
