Injector Recall?

Featured Replies

I have just booked my Octavia VRS TDi for the injector recall. Is there anything I need to know before taking the car in as I dont want to be fobbed off with any excuses etc.

Cheers

Is it going in for them to be replaced or just to be checked to see if they are eligable under the recall?

This whole saga started off by us having to take our vRS's in to be 'checked'. The dealer removes the plastic engine cover and rocker cover so that they can view the injector's part numbers. This then allows them to be able to determine if they need changing or not.

This later changed, and Skoda UK were able to determine whether they needed changing simply by checking the car's reg number / VIN number.

Later still VOSA got involved and this became an official recall with letters being sent to owners and an 'alert' appearing on the dealers system as soon as your cars details were entered, prior to a service etc.

You will probably have read some of the threads on cold starting issues, rough idle, DPF regens, increasing oil levels etc. that are possibly attributed to the injector change but these seem few and far between.

Also, the original recall covered the wiring loom as well as the injectors, this has now changed and so the recall now doesn't cover the loom. If you want it changing at the same time (as a precaution) then I think it is an extra £80 ish.

They said that they need to check the serial number and then if they need replacing they will do them. To me it seems a bit of messing about when they have them off anyway, they might as well change them.

cheers for the advice

Hi, I live in Australia and have a 2008 2.0dt. Had it from new but no news of a recall on the injectors. Does anyone know if the Aussi Octavia's need to be recalled? Mine has done 30k and smokes black between 2-3k revs when accellerating hard. Surley all the cars came from the same factory? Spoke to the dealer the other day and they hooked it to the diagnostic mc - could not find anything wrong with it. Then they stated that the black smoke was characteristic of my particular engine/drivetrain.

I've had a number of diesel cars and this sounds BS. Any thoughts would be appreciated as my warranty runs out the end of may.

U should have no smoke if ur car has a dpf.

Does anybody know why SUK aren't replacing the loom? I'm still changing them @ VW & Audi are still replacing them. The only difference is warranty aren't asking for them back.

Am a bit concerned, i have a VRS Tdi but heard nothing about this

If you aren't on Skoda's system as being the current owner then you won't get a 'recall' letter.

Ring your local dealer or Skoda UK (08457 745745) with your reg/VIN number and they'll be able to tell you over the phone if your car is eligible for new injectors.

The looms were originally replaced early on in this saga..... Not sure why they are not now though??

Cost, they have had a lot back that we're fine so no longer automatically replaced.

Hi Guys, does anyone know if this only affects the 170ps Skoda's or do the 140ps Skodas have the Siemens injectors?

Obviously VW have issues with both 140ps and 170ps units and wondered if my 140ps could be covered?

Hi, no the only Skoda affected by this recall is the PD170 vRS. None of the 140 PS Skodas used Siemens piezo injectors.

I had my injectors done about 6 weeks back after I popped in for smothing else. Not sure what the system is they use, presume Skoda's as they said there was a flag in the system to say I needed my Injectors replacing as part of a recall.. They didn't need to even look at the car they just booked it in and ordered the injectors.
