A real Yeti pick-up

Featured Replies

Hmmm... A peculiar beast.

The fender extensions that stop mid air look ghastly! And why did they decide to taper the roof (and thus alter the line of the door glass)? Now you have this crooked line behind the door where had they kept the standard door this line would have just been straight...

(from the French Yeti forum)

looks good, apart from the wheel arches like you said. A Skoda Fun for the 21st century?

I actually really like that!

Phil

I have to confess Im finding it strangely endearing! :)

The idea is a very good one and I like the concept BUT...

As Johann said, the roofline is just wrong. It should be as stock.

It may even benefit from short roof rails to echo the OE ones.

The extended arches should be completed. Even if they tapered sharply inwards to meet the bottom of the wings, they would look finished.

My biggest no is the fact that the tailgate appears not to open. No telltale split lines on top finishing cap!

Maybe it's that shape to get some rigidity back into the body?

What Fun! The truncated front wheel arch extensions should ensure that road muck is nicely sprayed evenly over the doors, probably to include the windows.

(Would that even be road-legal in the UK? Doesn't a wheel have to be covered by the bodywork? I'm sure someone here knows.)

Dont think so, it would be the same as an Atom / Caterham Seven they only have cursory mudguards at the top of the wheels.

I absolutely love it!

....cursory mudguards at the top of the wheels....

Good point.

Hmm - and the back?

AFAIR

Unless C&U regs have changed recently...

At least one third of the circumference of the wheel must be covered, over the full width of the tyre.

I'm sure there are positioning rules, with regard to spray and mud etc, but am unable to find them ATM

So yes, the pickup would meet the requirement

Nearly.

One third of the wheel must not show when viewed from vertically from above the centre of the wheel.

Anyone know if you can actually buy those tinted lights? They look great on the candy white.

I knew it was 1/3.

I still don't get that cigar...

TONKA

That is a very flattering picture of a Suzy X90. In the metal it looked terrible and was a very impractical car.

I quite like the Yeti version but it's not for me, not enough room for wife's shopping!

Fred

Not enough room ??

She could pile it as high as she liked in the pickup !!

Best keep quiet I think...

>Best keep quiet I think...<

Sounds like good advice. :whew:

Needs 3" more ground clearance.

The "go pedal" and the floor mats look like something out of a chav's Corsa

The seat belts are impractical for a road car. (but the seats would be nice in another colour).

The pick-up bed would get full of water.

I suppose it is a modern version of a "Fun" (which I would love) but as it is currently, not for me!

I quite agree, except that a modern version of the 'Fun' would surely be spawned from a Fabia Estate or Roomster. Wouldn't it?

Don't think it really matters what the base vehicle is, if the concept is "fun", which is what the original was.

Plus now the "in thing" seems to be 4x4.

(and stupidly low suspension)
