Headlight/Flashing

Featured Replies

As we know when it's just the DRL's are on, and you flash someone nothing happens, they only work if you've got you main lights on, is there a setup to do this? So when the DRL's are on or even sideligths you can still flash people?

Cheers

Flashing works on mine in all circumstances except when main beams are on. Don't have DRLs though.

Flashing still works for me, or atleast the light on the dash comes on

Your 'Stalk' or your 'flash' must be faulty.

It should work even with no key in the ignition.

& with the side lights set to be used as DLR's or if disabled as DRL's just switched on as sidelights and also when in Dipped Beam.

Flashing works on my mates fine

Forgot to say this is on the VRS.

The light on the dash comes on for me too, just doesn't flash (while on drl's/sidelights).

Does it 'Flash' the Headlights when you have no Ignition on?

I am sitting in the car watching them flash and light up a wall,

not actually outside the car seeing what they do.

EDIT PS

Best get your lights checked ot, fuses, relay etc.

Owners Manual page 52

'Headlight flasher'

Pull the lever towards the steering wheel (spring-tension position)-

beam and warning light in the instrument cluster comes on.

(also)

'Caution'

Use main beam and or the headlight flasher only if this does not risk dazzeling other road users.

Not tried it without the keys in mate. When I get home this evening I'll park in my garage and try it out. I just find it weried it doesnt flash, except when the main lights are on.

Mine flashes with no keys and with drls on and with dipped beam on.

you can see the actual headlights flashing, not just the blue light on your dash?

Yup.

must be yours, mine flashes no problem, whatever the circumstances.....

Right went into my garage today faced the car to the wall, flashed it with drl's, and with side lights still nothing. :wall: Should I take it back to Skoda? Only bought it in February.

Absolutely, no question about it. Mine flashes with drls on..

It's not becuase I installed HIDS is it? Would it still flash?

Im going to swap the headlights back over on the weekend, as it's going in on Monday under warrenty. Dont want it to be cause of the HIDs?

Cheers

could be!

HIDs don't like flashing as it reduces their life.

Maybe they have a built in circuit to stop them coming on when only being flashed.

Plus hids need a few seconds for the ballast to build power so this is probably why.

Not wishing to be a pedant, would that not constitute an MOT failure (not that one is due) therefore technically making the car unsafe?

Check fuse F36

Thought the vrs had a reflector that just moved for high/low beam? Mine does anyway

Suppose that if they wearnt on they wouldn't like coming on/off/on/off

Right removed the HIDS last night and put the originial bubls back in and it's still not working.

So it's 100% going in to Skoda-derby on monday. They are picking it up & dropping it off once done. That's service. 8-)

Only on Projector Lights, the Wife's MkII Vrs has a separate Main Beam, (60Plate)

FINALLY got this sorted today! While I was playing the waiting game when i bought my car I asked for a set of black headlights that I had seen on another VRS, so they fitted them not a problem since then i've been asking you guys why lights wouldn't "flash" while they were on DRL's or Sidelights the problem was because these lights were from the Monte Carlo, and not exactly compatiable for the RS. So i waited all day at the Skoda Dealer while they tried to figure out what was wrong with it, (that's what they come up with) so they retrofitted it so i can now flash on DRL's/Sidelights instead of putting back the chrome headlights back in. :D So happy. but now he has to recall a few other cars that have had it done as it's a M.O.T Failure >_< haha! So if you haev the same problem then send it back.
