Paloma Faith

Featured Replies

When I got my 1.8Tsi Elegance couple of years back, I sort of expected the CD tracks to display titles on the Bolero display. They didn't and going on quite a bit of forum discussion at the time, I don't think they did on anyone's..............................

Until last night.......went to Tesco and bought Paloma Faith - 'Fall to grace' Shoved it in and bloody hell - it's showing the tracks and CD by name.

I presume that CD technology has caught up with Skoda technology?

Some CD's do, some don't I think is your answer.

Yup, not all CDs have the CD data track

It's called CD Text and very few CD's actually have it and not all CD players read it.

I have one from the late '90's with CD Text and only my home stereo reads it (although I don't think I've actually tried it in the Columbus... But I know the 6-disc changer doesn't, and neither did the Stream MP3).

That's good old Paloma for you

A CD?

What's one of them!? :giggle:

A Cross Dresser

Quite. I don't have CD rather I have SDHC. Much better and bigger.

LP12 here - what's an IPod?

Just an Axis I'm afraid :-(

If you use MP3 you'll get more info up on the screen. As said only a few CDs have text built in.

Now how do you install an LP12 into a mobile environment :hi:

How quaint? An old fashioned chap who still buys CD's. Great choice of music though mate ;-)

Michell Gyrodec here with an Audiomods arm and Benz Wood cart :-) Never tried it mobile though - I think dust would be an issue :giggle:

Used to have an Axis many moons ago - nice little turntable that and still p**es all over anything digital!

I find that it tends to jump and skip quite a lot especially on a bumpy road and it can't be controlled by the MFSW ;)

Mitchell Focus 1 for me with a Linn arm (can't remember the model though).

I must be ancient as I still buy vinyl from time to time :giggle:

The nice thing about Mitchell is they still support kit like the Focus One - a proper engineering company. That is a decent turntable and they still fetch good money secondhand!

No mate - vinyl is very muich on the rise again - I buy pretty much everything new on vinyl now. Most are 180gm so no warping and the pressing quality has massivly improved. Also most come with vouchers for MP3 downloads as well.

Seriously CD has had it's day and people want more of a physical experience than digital.

I have a Copland CD player and an expensive DAC and my Gyro absolutely wipes the floor with it - so much so that my mates are now digging out their decks again! I've now copied all of my CD's to disk and I'm wondering what the hell to do with 1500+ CD's!!!

I wonder if I can interface the arm to the MFSW...............

you can use an id3 tag editor to add the required information to the track, but then you will have to reburn onto a blank cd

Rega Planar 2 here ,nice to know there are a few vinyl enthusiasts on here .
