SchuMi2's Fabia II vRS

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Well I thought I might as well start up a build/mod thread for the vRS as it progresses through the build. The only factory option added at the time of purchase was the black roof...everything else was a std spec. Unfortunately I have no pictures from std to start with as the car was picked up by the wife whilst I was away with work and from the first day home I have been changing the car up.

Car as it sits currently...

Options fitted so far...

OZ Racing Superturismo GT 17x7 et38 wheels in matt black with red lettering...

Wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE002 205/40/17

Std vRS springs replaced with VWR Sports Springs (Polo GTI 6R)

and ECU flashed with APR stage 1...

Coming next week will be front & rear ARB's from HP http://goapr.com.au/..._sway_bars.html

as well as the 6R Polo GTI full exhaust system http://goapr.com.au/...ti_exhaust.html

Other items on the list are...

Intake

Intercooler

Battery

Brake pads or brake upgrade

Shock absorbers

...and the list will no doubt continue to grow.

Cheers

(I will update the Monte build in here as well as parts are removed from the vRS and fitted to the Monte when time permits and I can claw the car away from the wife  )

presume your in Oz then?

Yes you are correct...

Just a word of advice the polo gti exhaust is different to the fabia from the cat back. Milltek thought it was the same but when test fitting on my car found the back box is in the wrong position

Thanks P1TT8ULL...I had the Polo exhaust fitted yesterday...everything fit as per original except for the tail pipes...had to be altered. Also had the F/R swaybars done...transforms the car 100%

I will try to get underneath and take some snap shots today or tomorrow...

Cheers

Would love to see a pic of the front sway bar :)

Could not get a pic of the front bar...it is well hidden without lifting the car.

Here are a couple of pics of the rear bar...

Hmm different setup than Whiteline's solution. APR is using adapters and a shorter bar?

Much neater than the Whiteline kit but doesnt look adjustable

The bolts through the spring pan that fasten on the adaptor plate don't look long enough...they are not going through the nuts so that the locking rings are engaged...I hope they don't come loose.

The rear bars are multi-point adjustable...

The bolt runs into the nyloc and sits flush with the top/bottom of the nut. I am sure they would use longer bolts if there was an issue. I always like that 1-2mm of bolt showing through the nut whether it is a nyloc or not as it is easy to notice if something is loosening up and gives a slight safety margin (bolts not dropping out) where as with them flush I guess you can't notice it until it is possibly gone...time will tell.

Have to add though, that the F/R bars are very well made :)

Do you know by any chance what diameter they are?

Apologies on the late reply...I have been away working for the last 5 weeks. If I remember correctly...21mm. Car is in having the DSG tune, pads and fluid done so when I get it back I will have a quick measure to confirm.

Is Skoda popular in Oz? My brother was impressed with my mk1 when he was over from Melbourne.

Not so much...still fairly new to Aus. I think the brand has only been here for 5 years now but is getting stronger. The Octavia seems to popular with the Yeti gaining interest with the masses. I have only seen 4 Fabia's and two are ours  where I am...hopefully see some more around soon.

No wet weather over here :sun: 2000 km so far...not too many.

looking good. Is that the intercooler with the stepped core that they used on their polo?

Car looks really great! I love those rims :)

Is that cat looking very skinny or there is no cat there?

Great Build!

The CAT is located right behind the radiator, you wont see the CAT in any of those pics, unless they have relocated the CAT in that exhaust

http://goapr.com.au/products/HP_new_polo_gti_exhaust.html - second pipe from the top on that picture on the webpage. It looks like a downpipe to me (no expert so welcome any correction) with exhaust manifold flange and two Lambda (they both Lambda?) sensors one before and one after that bulge. Sport cats I saw were usually larger, Milted exhaust is a good example?

Cheers...Cat is behind the radiator...much smaller than the std cat.
