Rust spots on tailgate?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Anyone else got rust spots on their tailgate? Looks like the tendency to suck rubbish off the road onto the rear may have caused some stonechip damage but the rust has bubbled very quickly, shame.

I had rust on mine in the engine bay, where the driver's side engine mount sits, after just two years (bought the car brand new). Went to 2 dealers, both weren't interested at all. They told me it probably wouldn't be covered, took loads of photos, said they'd send them to Skoda UK, and they'd call me back to say what they were told by them. Over a year later, I'm still waiting for that call.

I've had to repair it myself, otherwise, by the time the rust ate through the metal, the engine would collapse on that side.

As far as I'm concerned, Skoda's anti-corrosion warranty is a scam. By all means, do go ahead and take your car in however. You may get lucky.

DO NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT STONECHIP DAMAGE!!!

If you do, those b@st@rds will use it as an excuse to reject the warranty claim, so take my advice. And let us know how you get on with it. Best of luck!
