Advice on Fitting H&R Lowering Springs

Featured Replies

I have a 2011 Fabia Hatchback 1.2 TSI (85), for which I have ordered 40 mil H&R lowering springs. I am quite handy with the spanners and have all the tools required and I know that the rear springs are an easy job but if someone could please give me a small step by step guide to fit the front springs I would really appreciate it.

Apart from lowering a Clio about six years ago on 40 mil spax springs which seemed a straight forward enough job, however I'm not sure if the Fabia would be similar.

I have ordered spring clamps off fleabay and I know once fitted the car will need the alignment adjusted if necessary, but apart from that a bit of a step by step guidance for the front springs would be a great help, just in case of any unexpected surprises cropping up.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Come on folks dont let me down please. a bit of knowledgeable advice would be super..............

Sorry, I cannot help you mate but seeing your other post, I felt obliged to respond......

Oh, and careful with the spring clamps. A coiled spring with an incorrectly fitted spring clamp is a death trap...

I dont think many guys have fitted themselves, they just usually go to garage and get them fitted.

dont know if this is any help ?

dont forget the dance

If you have replaced the front springs on your clio ok then you should be fine doing the ones on the fabia.

Remove wheels, pinch bolt in hub and other components attached to strut, you may need to remove wipers and scuttle panel to gain access to top strut nut.

You will need to separate the locater channel on the hub as the strut bottom will be tight on removal, using a fat flat blade/chisel to open it up slightly

Remove strut, clamp spring, remove top mount, remove spring from strut, fit new spring and refit top mounts and strut.
