roof boxes best suited to fabia 2.....

Featured Replies

OK, so not the best performance mod, but first child is making an appearance soon and think I am going to need some bars and a box for extra load carrying capacity for weekends away and hols etc....

Hard to picture how big some of the boxes would be on the car so keen to know what people on here may have gone for and opinions etc....

Had been considering kamei husky xxl, but not sure if 2m will be too long when that bad-boy is strapped on the roof - the car is so much tall it may topple over!!

Cheers in advance

I got a 415 litre roof box when the little one arrived, along with a universal set of roof bars.

The roof box was off amazon, £109.99 delivered - bought it in April 2011 and have used it 3/4 times a year and has done the job brillinalty! carries loads of kit. yes there are some niggly design features but for the price it cant be beaten!

Roof bars were a universal set also off amazon for £40 delivered (the ones i got were for cars with rails already on as i had an oct estate and now a fab estate) they were locking ones and have also done the job perfectly fine for the last 2 years with the roof box.

One thing to note is the roof box off amazon cant be removed from the bars whilst its on the car as its fixed on placed by 'U' brackets bolted round the roof bars so if you want the box off the bars come off with it! in some ways its actually a bonus as i dont want the bars on without the roof box!

hope this helps,

I have thule bars, square ones (a bit cheaper) with the requisite kit for the Fabia.  I have used the same bars on my Octavia, Superb and my wife's Golf, with the fitting kit for each costing about £35.

The box is a halfords 400L odd jobby.  At the moment they are on offer from Halfords for £220 or something, but there may be cheaper.

The same box was fine on the Fabia, as used on the Octy and superb and even the Golf recently.  It still fits.

Presumably a 2m box is one of those ski boxes, designed for skis, not width?

the car is so much tall it may topple over!!

Cheers in advance

Well seen as you need that roof box, clearly the only responsible thing to do as a new parent is lower that car ASAP.

Sorry, double post

Sorry, no pics, but official Skoda bars can be had for 140notes, roofbox and bars combo seems best value through roofbox.co.UK.

I still can't decide whether to go for kamei husky l or xxl!

I have both the Halford roof bars and box on the Yeti and the Roomster before that and never had any issues (other than needing a step ladder to load the box on the Yeti). Told the wife that the Monte couldn't have roof bars fitted because it didn't have roof rails and it's lowered (she has believed me for now).

As much as people malign Halfords they were very helpful and professional when we were choosing both the bars and box (even though the wife wanted to buy online) and for this we bought from Halfords.
