Fabia Mk2 vRS, late 2012 on CTHE 1.4 TSI Engine Remaps.

Featured Replies

Has anyone had a re-map on a CTHE 1.4 TSI Twincharger to Stage 1, or know anyone that has ?

(Maybe not just on a Fabia, a CTHE in a SEAT Ibiza Cupra from 2013,

even a CTHE  Polo or A1 with a Re-map)

Who did the re-map?

george

interesting, cant currently be mapped then... I'd love to get my cthe on a rr though, it feels quicker than the cave engine did with the tuning box on! "feels" is hardly scientific though lol..

Bump,   Anyone,  any ideas or knowledge please.

Bump,   Anyone,  any ideas or knowledge please.

Hi George, I know I am stating the obvious but I imagine that engine issues and warranty voiding will leave you with slim pickings, if anyone has done this.  These cars at the most are 1.5 years old and to say it still looks like some are sadly coming out of the factory less than perfect, we may have a wait.

Would love to see a Dyno plot from one though, do we have any CTHE Engine vRS' heading to the Awesome GTI rolling road day?

Also free bump for the thread as also interested.

On the linked post above, are DTUK not mixing engines here, I think the ECU is the same for both CAVE and CTHE, only a different map.  I may be wrong.  I believe the new Octy and Golf are on a newer ecu with new encryption which as yet hasn't been cracked (possibly has as I type this)

My ECU was still encrypted and had to be cut out of the car, physically removed, interrogated on a computer in order to gain access and then remapped.  Not a simple OBD plug (which I guess is a known thing) and part of my choice for going to awesome was what a nice job they make of replacing the ECU cage etc when reinstalling sheer bolts etc.

Physically/Externally the ECU are different,  that is to look at.  I have 2 different styles externally of CAVE ECU,

it is not the MAP on the ECU as standard that i am interested in, (well i am interested in standard output.)

but what can be done to the CTHE one.

Lack of Warranty on the CTHE is not the issue.

It is accepted that the Engine/Drivetrain will not be getting Claimed on from VAG.

Only really interested in who has already done Re-maps on them.

On any CTHE that has already been on a Dyno,

personally i have not had one i could get on a Dyno.

(others might borrow a demonstrator and do it, but not me. it is more fun torturing them on the road.)

George, I did read what you were interested in and was just trying to add a few thoughts.  I know you aren't interested in the MAP, my comment was that I didn't believe that the ECU hardware was changed on the CTHE as is the case with the MK3 Octy.

Ok, if externally different then maybe they have put a newer model ECU module in, even in some CAVE's even, however I have had bits of pieces of contact with APR and they have never suggested any CAVE engines are off limits for mapping. So that leaves it a bit open.  My guess is no new map developed based on the CTHE standard map.  APR certainly have next to no interest in developing further for this car.

If the CTHE ECU is along the lines of the new Octy then as far as I know they haven't cracked it. So remaps unlikely.

My warranty comment was simply that none of these cars are out of warranty, so fewer owners likely to want to purchase a remap (if available) due to reasons listed, for the mapper, I guess a smaller market and a suspect engine isnt incentive to develop.

But given my map from APR is a generic Stage I I don't know if they would redevelop it for CTHE.  I will try to get hold of Awesome and APR and ask.

I would do the awesome day , but havent seen confirmed plans at all in the thread.....

Might join you, but same on the confirmation

looking forward to the results! :) get some 99 fuel in ! :) what sort of mileage have you done? they come alive at about 10,000 miles.... still a bit tight until then...

I will be at castle coombe thrashing mine around the track, but cant wait to see the results!

I only put 99 octane in, car has done 8025 miles will have done a few hundred more miles by the 26th, Hope to see min 195 bhp at flywheel . i have seen a graph for a CAVE  engine on awesome rollers that made 194bhp std car hope the CTHE makes a bit more i have noticed that the engine has come alive in the last 1000 miles

Sorry, to again bump this.

But has anyone had a 1.4 TSI 132-136Kw CTHE engine / ECU remapped to Stage 1,  (edited typo.)

or do you know someone that has had it done?

Wouldn't mind a spin in the 236KW version  :sun:

Thanks for the bump George, I'd be interested getting mine on the rolling road.. Seeing what it's putting out.. I'd love to get it on a track and see the 0-60 as I had my father in law telling me how much quicker his golf R is.. I mean I know it's quicker.. But it doesn't feel crazy quicker.. Be good to see.. Thanks again for the bump.. Be interested to know if anyone has remapped a CTHE..

If the cthe is 195bhp it should be about 6.5 seconds to 60 :)

Ooo.. That'd shut him up.. Haha. I mean I've been in my mates and he reckons his car is 6.8 and it does not feel as fast as the VRS but.. Feel is hardly scientific.. Although he agrees..

There is a quarter mile leader board on here somewhere with real times on, and of course we will be doing our own at Santa pod in May :)

Here's a quote from the quarter mile thread

I managed to run a 14.7 @ 93mph, 0-60ft in 2.3 secs and 0-60 in 6.6 on York raceway earlier on in the summer. I was quite impressed considering my cars completely standard and they're supposed to run a 15.3 i think!

Cheers shark I'll be sure to check that one out tonight :)

ive got a 14 plate cthe with 15000 miles its only been run on 99ron in its life. im up for a RR as it doesn't feel no slouch and the 7.3 0-60 feels way off and the ITG Induction Kit Ive just fitted gives it that little bit more :)
