Just fitted my tow strap

Featured Replies

Been looking at the tow strap topics and like the look of them so decided to get one. (£10 from ebay)

Took the origional towing eye and drilled a 10.5mm hole through

Then cut it back to size and welded a 12mm nut on to use to turn it.

Before the nut got welded

Then once welded, i painted it

How it looked bolted together before painting.

And fitted to the car in all its glory.

Really happy with it, decided against putting flat spots on to turn it in because i didnt think there was much space to get a spanner in especially with the splash guard at the bottom.

I'm not a fan of these personally, but it's nice to see someone going to the effort to fit one properly!

Hopefully I won't ever need to use it but I like the look its something a wee bit different (even if everyone has them). Lol

That's for the comment having a machine shop in wwork and being a welder might have helped. :-)

Not really got much time to make another 1 mate. If you weren't in a rush i could do it. i wouldnt want anything for it but youd need to send me your towing eye and pay for postage for me to return it.

If you get recovered on the road by a vehicle using a solid tow bar you will have no stopping power, neither will your brakes help having no servo if your problem is engine related, so the thought of the cost involved of the solid tow bar going through your front panel and through the intercooler sounds very expensive.

Ah this is something I hadn't thought of.

Think I'll order a new towing eye incase of that happening.

Although my previous couple of brake down I've been put on the back of the truck.

Thanks for pointing that out.

How come you need a 10.5 hole thru???

I made and sold about 20 of these on here. The hole is the size that comes on the trs tow strap.

Mines just lies in the shed and I'm not allowed to post in the for sale here.

You can post in the 'For Sale' section once you are a paid (£12) Freedom member.

I'm not on here enough now that I don't have the Fabia so justify being a Freedom member.
