Turning the battery round

Featured Replies

Sorry if it's a stupid question, and i posted it in the performance section in relation to a new airtake too but got no response as of yet, so thought it might be better here.

How easy/difficult is it to turn the battery around in the MK2 Fabia vRS? Wanting more room to fit an intake. So it's either that or new smaller battery. The latter may save weight, but if turning the battery round isn't to much of a tricky job then i'll save the money and do that.

Thanks for your time and any input.

Mike

I would imagine it would involve moving the bracket round, potentially drilling new holes etc. I would go with a smaller lighter battery if I were you.

Got an ITG by any chance?

Almost, was hoping to fit something like this

My thought was this was possible if you have a smaller battery. And I have seen pictures with people having fitted things like this on their Fabia.

Have you had a look at vRSy's Fabia build thread? He went down the approach of a smaller battery to fit the VWR filter which I beeline is the same as the ITG. I might be wrong! The Fabia kit has the cold feed pipe going down the right had side into the bowels of the engine bay making the front inlet redundant. Weird!

On motorbikes you can get lithium ion batteries. Theyre lighter, smaller, and more powerful too.

Can you not get something similar for a car? I cant see why not?

Yeah, but to be honest, I don't really like the way the Fabia ITG kit is positioned and would prefer to take the air from the front slam panel where it takes air from at the moment. I've seen a few pictures of people who have done it on here. Think Sy was one of them. Apologies if I'm mistaken.

Yes, you can get smaller batteries, but i was asking if it was worth the expense of that if turning the battery round was an easy thing to do. But from the sounds of things it's not, so smaller battery it is. Sorry if I didn't make that clear!

Thanks for all your replies.

Probably just me not reading it properly. No worries mate. Hope you get what you need :).

stick it in the boot, it'll help weight distribution :)

I am going to have a look when the car comes home

Bump! Does anyone have any other knowledge on how to rotate the Mk2 vRS battery in order to fit the 6R induction kit? Or another way?

Darn! :crying:

Looks like I'll have to contact them and hope they know of where to get an alternative because the 6R's IK looks brilliant in the engine bay.

That's the exact one I want, I really don't want to have the induction pipe just tucked beside the battery if I can help it, I've got major OCD when it comes to keeping things neat and tidy :D
