Service - Correct Oil?

Featured Replies

Just had the Fabia Serviced (2013 VRS) on its first service of the 3 year fixed plan.

Can you tell me what oil they are meant to use.  On the invoice it states 10w30 (could be 10w40 will double check) but i was under the impression it should be 5w30?

Does it matter when it is on fixed intervals?  Bit behind the ball on petrols and fixed as i have had diesels on variable for over 10 years now...

Thanks in advance.

Fixed  Service Engine oil change on a 1.4 TSI 132 kw,

VW 502 00 or VW 504 00,  5w 30 or 5w 40

(about £7 a Litre if they are invoicing a Customer)

Variable Servicing,  VW 504 00, Long Life 5w 30 or 5w 40

(About £13 a Litre if they are Invoicing a customer)

Unless some Service Campaign/Field Action Skoda/VW have not mentioned.

It's 10w40

You can get 502 00 10w40 so I'm a little confused

Thats weird. Why would they change the oil type I wonder?

10 40 will be fine..... just not quiet as efficient in very cold weather start ups!

Ask the Dealership why they have put 10w 40 in your car.

No need,

and a strange action.

Maybe the Service Desk doing the Paper Work wrong.

I have

They've basically admitted it's wrong but checking the specs as it should be Ok as it's 505 00.

Not accepting it either way is its clearly 502 00 in the book.

505 00 is some ancient oil used for the likes of na 2.0 litre engines from 99.

Many places that only charge for VW 502 00 because thats what the Fixed Service Schedule shows

but put in VW 504 00 anyway.

Quantum lll Long Life,  that they have in Bulk.

I would get the Dealership to change your oil to 5w 30, Full Synthetic at no cost to you.

??

What about the DSG 'Field Action' then.

Have they changed the Synthetic Oil for Mineral oil and done a ECU Update, & applied a sticker,

or was that not required on your car?

It's going back tomorrow after an apologetic after sales manager phoned me.

Apparently this is the details that vwfs gave them so the mechanic just blindly followed it instead of thinking it's not right for a vrs.

Oil looks to be overfilled too so presume that screws up cat at spark plugs. Not that you can tell with this stupid dipstick.

Gearbox done apparently

Recall number and date in back of book. Your guess is as good as mine as to where the sticker is.

Where is the oil showing on the dipstick when Stone Cold,

Just above the Cross Hatch area on the Flat?

Does the Paperwork say 3.6 litres,  ?

if he used the wrong oil, he might have done 3.9 litres.

Sat for about 2 hours now - still warmth in engine, it is sat right on the line where the indent ends on the metal bit, above the hatched area.  When i checked earlier after doing 20miles and it sitting for 5min it read just below the plastic.

3.6 litres on invoice.

Sounds like 3.9 litre in.

In the morning hopefully between the top of cross hatch and below the top orange blob.

This pic, not mine, (Jabozumas)

shows the highest it should be with a Hot Dip.

I usually put in 3.7 litres and this is where a Hot Dip has the oil.

Hot dip was higher than cold dip so I'm confused now.

Gearbox oil change for a 2013? Mine's 2013, will I need one too? Not heard anything from the dealer.

You need to find out from Skoda UK if your build date shows you have Synthetic oil in the Gearbox.

No published Serial Numbers, Models, Build Dates etc about,  just with Skoda.

It's right up to the orange blob this morning

I'll also be asking why they did 12 miles in it yesterday.

12 miles is right for a Road Test on a 1.4 TSI Twincharger if you want to do a Hot Dip,

But since they Changed the Oil & Filter they knew it should have 3.6 litres in,

Still supposed to do a Road Test,

& then Dip the Oil.

'Check Steering, suspension, Brakes, Drivetrain, Noises etc.'

& with a DSG 'Service Campaign' of Oil & ECU update you would want them to 'Road Test' it.

Funnily your car was Road Tested,

and they seam to have still over filled the Oil. If it was checked after the Road Trip.

I Would demand that the Master Technician Drains the Oil,

the way they do for an 'Oil Consumption test',   Remove & replace the Oil Filter as well,

& Weigh the Oil,

and measure the Quantity.   Just so you are sure how much it was overfilled.

Just picked the car back up.  Oil has been changed as filter is new (marked filter).  Cold dip is at top of hatching.  Car has done 0miles today. Predictably the After Sales Manager wasn't available and nobody had an explanation.  No new invoice, this will be posted to me apparently.  I will be voting with my feet I think if they can't even get a basic oil change correct.

I know I had an "update" but mines a 2010 and I don't think it's had the gearbox oil changed? Is this something that needs to be done. I'm sure I read about the polo gti having there's changed

Check with Skoda UK Customer Services or a Skoda Dealership if your car is part of the 'Service Campaign',

to Check your Mechatronics Control Unit, Change the DSG OIl from Synthetic to Mineral Oil,

& Update the DSG.

Did you ever find out what the correct oil is and what oil the dealer put in to your engine?

Yup, it's 5w30 which meets 502 00 or 504 00 spec

They put 10w40 505 00 in.
