Leak in air intake system and Turbo Bypass valve failure?

Featured Replies

So, 2 months ago I had my exhaust warning light come on, car felt no different really but dropped by the dealer as the car is still in warranty. A VCDS scan from me had showed "Leak in air intake system". The dealer's diagnosis showed that the air inlet manifold had failed and was therefore replaced. Car was fine for 1,5 month  but last week the same warning light came. Scanned with VCDS again and the same fault came up but this time together with another one:

2 Faults Found:

4050 - Leak in Air Intake System

          P2279 00 [237] - Lower Limit Exceeded

             Freeze Frame:

                    Fault Status: 00000001

                    Fault Priority: 2

                    Fault Frequency: 1

4270 - Turbocharger Bypass Valve Control Circuit: Malfunction / Open Circuit

          P0033 00 [109] - Defective

             Freeze Frame:

                    Fault Status: 00000001

                    Fault Priority: 2

                    Fault Frequency: 1

Readiness: 0000 0000

Car is booked in for tomorrow but I'd like to know what that fault means in terms of the car's "general" health, is it a common/ not important fault that can be independently fixed or it means there are other underlying issues with the car?

No worries, that didn't take them long. Two cracked connectors were the causes of the faults, replaced and everything is fine again.

  • 5 months later...
