Monte Carlo Tech Edition All Same?

Featured Replies

Looking at picking a Monte Carlo up for the wife.

Looking at circa 2012 / 2013 models.

Are all tech models the same trim?

I have now seen 2 advertised as tech that do not have the sat nav unit. Can you get the bluetooth without the Amundsen ?

Cheers,

Yes, Have a 'Swing' Radio in my 2011 Monte with Blu-tooth feature and it works & 'pairs' OK

Cheers

Car is very sporty as 205 40 R17, suspension quite stiff & also road noise up.

Make sure does not pull to left,, if so dealer must sort it out before you part with cash,, (mine a 2011 never has and purchased with 15k on clock)

Cavet Emptor.

But, But cracking car, install Subwoffer and super.

Also fit carpet under rear seats or soundproofing and have fun.

It can't be a Monte Tech if it doesn't have satnav, must just be a normal Monte.

As above the Tech had nav and bluetooth with just 105 TSI or TDI as the engine choice and came onto the market in the spring of 2013 from memory. Might also want to look for a later 2013 car, as by then ESP had become standard (traction control switch above the rear heated window switch is the give away for ESP).

TP

As already stated the Monte Carlo Tech have the Amundsen and Bluetooth with Maxidot Display, also you couldn't add any factory options to it; it came as a standard specification !

You could of course get dealer fitted options though such as Reverse Parking Sensors, Cruise Control and Front Armrest.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Productive day, managed to test drive 4.monte's. All engines.

Put a deposit on a very low mileage 2012 1.2 in red. With our sub 5k a year, think this engine suits us best anyway. It was far the best condition as well.

Well done.

Is this a Tech & the 105ps 1.2TSI ?

I noticed the Monte has red stitching on steering wheel, shame the VRS had to make do with white.

It is a non tech 105 1.2

The only tech we could find was the 75bhp cr. It was over a grand more expensive, higher mileage and worse condition. Plus less trade in.

The tech trim would have been nice, but not a deal breaker.

This wasn't a Tech, someone's been pulling your plonker, Techs only came with a 105 hp TSI or 105 bhp CR.

Dealers must be trying to upsell normal Montes as Techs to extract a bit more cash from unsuspecting punters, typical Del Boy tactics.

Going on from George's post above the last link in the Monte Carlo Tech line up was the Black Edition which was also in Limited Numbers and in Hatch and Estate variants with the same engine line up as the existing Monte Carlo Tech Editions.

The only information I could find on it is the official Skoda release however this priced the cars starting at £15,295 OTR! and most people only paid the £11,990 OTR the same as the Red or White versions.

Am I right in thinking that the 1.2TSi is only available in 86BHp or 105BHP.

Whenever I do an insurance quote using the reg no ( tried all the main insurance suspects ) it comes up as Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 5 Door 69 or 70bhp? Am I missing something here? I certainly didn't feel like just 70bhp.

You're right, the TSI came with both 86 and 105 BHP outputs only.

It appears that the one you've bought is one of the earlier Montes with the non turbo 1.2 engine which only has 70bhp.

How bizarre.  Is there even such a thing? Are they badged the same?

IS there a definite way of telling? Either mechanically or by the vin / product sticker.

Use the DVLA 'vehicle details',  using the Registration Number'.

There were a Few Ex Media (show) Monte Carlo with the lowest powered engines on the market.

The V5 also has the information.

But call Skoda UK Customer Services on Monday with the Reg Number and they can give you the details.

or PM me the Reg Number and i will see what i can see.

Or look at the Vehicle Data Sticker in the Boot under the mat or attached inside the Service Book if I remember correctly.

cheers.

My previous Octy came up as a 1.6 TDI if you searched the reg number on insurance sites etc. even though it was a 2.0 TDI, mind the Govenment VED website gave the right details in terms of engine capacity and CO2;

https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/Default.aspx

If its a 1.2 TSI then the engine capacity is 1197cc with a CO2 rating of 121 g/km for the 86PS or 124 g/km for the 105PS

The 1.2 HTP 70PS has an engine capacity of 1198cc with a CO2 rating of 128 g/km

As others have said the build sticker in the service book and boot floor will also give you an engine type code (also on the black sticker in the drivers door frame) and output in kw.

CGPA = 70PS

CBZA = 86PS

CBZB = 105PS

Should also have a badge on the tailgate (if not removed) stating HTP or TSI (the 105PS also has a red block after the TSI, as does the HTP due to there bing a 60PS version of the engine in the base model)

Also the TSi engine is labelled as such and of course has a turbo strapped on the front of it.

1000 Tech models were produced

500 black editions produced, only difference between the two are heated seats and black editions were only in a 1.2tsi 105bhp

You are talking about later models with heated seats, the original Monte Carlo Tech Black Editions did not have heated seats, and it was produced with both Petrol and Diesel engine options.
