"Inspection now" reset

Featured Replies

I've trawled through various topics with no answer, my monte was counting down to an inspection on the maxidot, it's now saying "inspection now" every time I turn on the ignition.

I've been trough the MFD menu by holding the top button in on the trip stalk and it's not letting me reset the "inspection now"

I've tried holding the 0.0 button in too!

Can someone point me in the right direction ?

I think it needs to be reset by a dealer (or someone with VCDS).

Is this on a MK1 Fabia vRS.?

On the mk2 you can reset the Service Indicator yourself.

It's a 63 plate monte

On my 2011 Fabia, I went through the MFD menu (while parked or it gets the hump and doesn't give all options), into the settings menu, then it was under service and obvious from there... Have you tried with the engine off / stationary?

From memory it only allowed me to do this for the inspection service, not the oil change.  I'm set to scheduled not variable.

Yeah I've looked in that menu, it tells me when the next oil change should be and the inspection but doesn't let me reset it

Is your car on Variable Servicing,

& not Fixed Servicing that resets it at '9,400 miles / 372 days'.   ?

Previously posted by Seboni elsewhere....

With the car off, press and HOLD the 0.00 button for the odometer reset
Continue Holding the 0.00 button and turn the ignition key to on. MFD reads "Service Now!". Keep holding the 0.00 button and then press the MINUTE button for the clock set. Let go of everything and you're done

Note: you can only reset the service display/stats this way if its actually showing a service is due...also resetting this way puts the indicator into fixed interval mode (9300 miles/365 days)

Sorry...didnt see previous post, as I was composing this reply at the time....

Yep that should do it :)

I've done as you descibed, when I press and hold the 0.0 it comes up with "reset oil interval" not inspection!

Oil change interval ? Is that not a service ?

If youre due a major service you'll have two service messages stacked up. Resetting first time will clear inspection, then clear a second time to clear the oil service message.

R1chard seems to have the same problem as I posted a couple of months ago.  Link to my earlier post:- http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/329267-resetting-service-display-on-maxidot/    I guess our cars are a similar age.  I have tried the tip mentioned by xman but all that does is zero the Oil Change reminder.  It has no effect on the "Inspection Due" reminder which is now telling me I am -1200 miles overdue and annoyingly "Bongs" and flashes a reminder every time I start the car.  This must be a problem that someone out there knows the answer to.  I will keep my fingers crossed!!

Is there a reason the Dealership are not putting things right if they did an Oil Change Service & an Inspection Service?

Zeroing the Inspection Service

& you going by when you know it is due is simple enough for them to do.

As to the Oil Service, if they can not do the full job of the service and resetting the indicator, ask they to do another Oil & Filter

change free gratis for their incompetence.

Yes exactly the same as mine, I just ignore it now, it had a service before I got the car so thats all that matters.

It's going to the dealers in new year for some VCDS changes so it'll get sorted then

Good luck to you R1chard with that. I took my car back to the dealer for them to have a second go and all they managed to do was zero the Oil Change again. Like you I will have to go on ignoring it.  But then I might take up the suggestion of goneoffSKI and demand they do another oil change FOC.  Though I am surprised that this forum is not viewed by someone within Skoda or who works at a dealership that knows the answer to our problem.

I'm surprised they didn't reset it properly being a dealer?

I say dealer but meant VAG specialist where I used to take my VRS and knows what he's doing

tehany - You are 'The Man'.  Just tried your tip and lo and behold it worked.  I was very sceptical at first, it will certainly be a nice change to turn on the ignition without the warning alarm and message after more than 8 months of it.  I don't think I'll even ask how you knew that was the way to do it.  It will certainly be interesting when my car goes for its next service to see if the dealer knows how to do it yet.   Thanks again for taking time to post.

Hi, I'm new to the forum here, and I just read this about the hazard lights.

BRILLIANT, you saved me from having to go through what everyone else went through.

Worked for a 2014 Superb 1.6tdi, thank you very much.

I managed to reset the oil change the first time myself, but the inspection message was on this time,

As wacky is  it sounds - but it works! for inspection warning reset, do the following: activate the hazard warning lights, as it is on, press the 0.00 button, and turn the egnition on half turn. it will display the "are you sure message", and you should enter OK, and turn the egnition off and on again.

for oil warning, the same procedure without the hazard warning lights on.

Just done this on the Yeti , thanks very much

What kind of spooky genius is this??

It works! Pure witchcraft.

Now why couldn't we just do via the controls, like normal people do? Dumb Skoda...brilliant BriSkoda!
