Oil consumption test part 1

Featured Replies

hey guys so they came and picked up my vrs yesterday and drained the sump and put the right amount of oil in and now i have to drive 180 miles before a re test just wondering what the best way to drive this car is now to outline the problem as  ill have to pay for the test if it meets the guidelines am i right in presuming they just burn oil however you drive the car

PLEASE GET A COPY FROM THEM OF WHAT THE GUIDELINES ARE,

ie THE ACCEPTABLE OIL USAGE FIGURE.

As well as the copy of the test results.

No you will not have to pay, and you should not.   Was the Test Approved by Skoda UK ?

They were not just to drop the old Oil. then put in the correct amount, there is more to it than that.

They were to put in New Oil & Filter, get it up to Operating Temperature, (3.6 litres of oil.)

Drop the New Oil & Weigh it,  then put it back in the car.

* Check when you got back what their procedure was, and ask for a copy of the Instructions they had to follow.'

You drive the car the distance you are supposed to.

They are then to get the Oil up to the Operating Temperature, Drop the Oil & Weigh it, and see the Difference in weight.

Do your 'Normal Short Trips', do not go on a long drive or 1 long drive.

But then you should be able to, because one Test or 186 miles or 621 miles is no proper test.

(300 km or 1000 km tests and then multiply the oil used is likely to have the result they want of

equating it to 0.3 - 0.4 litres per 1000 km used)

1,240 miles of driving then checking the Oil used would be a Real World Test.

3 Tank Fill ups or so, should not require 1 Litre of Oil put in the engine.

..................................

Please get a Copy of the Test Result.

We need to see the Weight of the Oil Drained before & after the test.

This is very Important.

..........

This is a Copy of a test result.

It is not going to be like this exactly for your car,

because this one has a blindingly obvious error, that any 'Factory Trained VAG Technician would spot instantly.

I cannot believe they are still asking people to pay for these tests!! Unbelievable.

Ok guys so I was driving the car today after the first part of the test and as I gave the car a bit of a push in s mode on the motorway the exhaust inspection light came

Flashing on I'm really worried here guys any suggestions

Do not push it, the spark plugs should of been checked, if one fails, then big trouble in little China.

& you do not want it in Limp Mode or the Turbo Inhibited.

So just drive easy and get the Oil Dropped & Weighed.

Breather Mod & ECU Update will be a waste of time, the Spark Plugs need checked, probably changed,

but then you get new Plugs with the Replacement Engine.
