Fabia VRS Diesel?

Featured Replies

Browsing the Twitter fees today I stumbled accros this:

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/ford/focus/90107/ford-focus-st-diesel-2015-review

Now I know the focus is more Octavia territory but it shows to me that there must be a market for sensible diesel hot hatches, so I think Skoda (and the string pullers at VW) need to rethink the idea of a Fabia III Vrs and given Fords most recent addition we should get the Vrs in both petrol and diesel form this time?

What do you all think?

The mk1 worked because it put the Skoda badge on a cheap to run warm hatch.

I can't see any reason why they can't do the same again.

But I suspect it's not a Skoda decision, they were forced to make a petrol DSG mk2 VRS because that's what VAG gave them to work with, as that's what the sister brands had for their warm hatches.

Hopefully someone in Germany will wake up at some stage and realise a warm hatch with sensible diesel running costs is what Skoda customers want.

Fabia, Ibiza, Polo, A1 hatches / Sportbacks are never put as being in the same class as a Ford Focus now, so why would that change.?

But a All New 3rd Generation Fabia Estate Diesel (Auto) Hot Estate would be nice.

But it would step on Octavia Estates toes, or Even Seat Leon maybe.

I am Hoping for a 'All New Fabia Estate Outdoor' with the option of Haldax as being used in the Audi S1,

or even just as in the Yeti.

They missed a trick, but as BossFox said, the decision was out of their hands.

The closest we got in the MK2 was the 1.6 TDI Monte......

Will we get a MK3 Warm derv hatch? I doubt it with the current feeling towards diesels.

Small capacity forced induction petrol engines is what will be served up.

I don't think there's a vRS planned.. only a Greenline.. and a Monte Carlo edition..

thing is with all the emmissions control on a modern diesel it will be hard to produce a warm fabia at a sensible price

Difficult for the VWG certainly with them not having managed to develop them like the competitors.

BMW / MINI seem to have no issue already having Diesels with some punch available for the smaller FWD cars,

and on sale ready for after September.

When I was in my local dealer at the weekend looking at the new Mk 3 Fabia they told me they had heard on the grapevine that there is definitely going to be a mk3 vRS. They reckoned it will be launched in about 18 months time and be manual and diesel only. Make of that what you will!

telling you what you want to hear mr member.

I like to see a MK3 fabia vRS with a diesel and manual or DSG I'm happy with both but would need to be the 184 PS TDI engine

Do people really want a Diesel VRS these days. When you've got  particle filters to deal with?

With the depreciation that Octavia 3 vRS 2.0 TDI Hatches & Estates have you might as well buy a used one of those if you want a Diesel vRS manual or DSG.

Skoda had a bit of a nerve calling these heavy and not very quick Derv cars a vRS anyway.

Just imagine how much a All new 3rd Generation Fabia vRS TDI would cost new in the UK taking into account how much

the Current most expensive Hatches & Estates are getting up to with proper spec.

There are quick cars / estates with proper handling / Suspension & Brakes for around the 20 - 23 Grand it would have to cost if they are

going to build a Fabia worth the designation vRS.

A 1.4 TSI ACT 150ps New Fabia Estate & Hatch seems easy enough for Skoda to produce if the VWG let them.

But then it would take sales from VW, Audi & Seat & even the bigger Skoda Models.

If they make a VRS diesel it would have to be around 150bhp, the 184 PS Diesel engine in a new fabia VRS could stop on the toes of the Octavia as it would be faster I would have thought! With the current fabia model range and engine choice it's pretty certain I wont be buying skoda In a year or so when my current deal has finished! Unless of course they buck their ideas up as give us something with a bit for ooomph and sportiness
