RS3 ?

Featured Replies

We went to test drive a Golf R over the weekend, as I have the itchy feet demanding I change my Octavia VRS. We thought the drive was very impressive. After this we popped into the Audi dealership next door in the hope of looking at an S3. However they didn't have one... But they did have an RS3 which I thought was out of my league pricing wise... However on a PCP it actually worked out cheaper than the Golf R!

Golf cost, £5,000 deposit, £460 per month... (Some options included but not many)

Audi RS3 cost £4,000 deposit, £445 per month... Very few options...

We drove the RS3 last night...What a pleasure!

The bad news is I am in slight negative equity of the Octavia, but after 18 months its not significant.

If anyone on here is considering a Golf R... Look at the Audi RS3 pricing, while it is £10K more list price on PCP its a great deal since the value after 3 years is so high...

So now for the big decision which colour should we get?

£10k per month?

:)

£10k per month?

:)

Mmmmmm  That could sway the deal

Sorry about that I've edited the post.... £10K more list price...

'Since the Predicted Value at 3 Years is so high'.

Not because they are Derren Brown, but because they control and distort the market.

ie

Audi / Audi Dealers giving a value at the end of a 3 Year low mileage lease.

If you try buying 1 today for cash, and selling it in 3 years to them after covering 36,000 miles and not buying a new Audi

and see what they offer. that is the real world depreciation and residuals.

Not.

Manufacturers / Dealers Contribution at the start of Hiring / Renting a car for 2 or 3 years, putting down a cash payment,

and then paying Monthly and handing the car back.

That figures are how the Volkswagen Group and others make it look like the vehicles are worth more than 50 % of RRP

after 3 years.

Lovely car; I love the Golf R but it IMHO lacks the prestige and visual muscle that a car costing near 40k optioned ought to. The RS3 remedies that on all fronts but jesus is that one expensive Audi A3?!

The thought of actually paying that sort of money for a Golf or A3 doesnt really compute for me either bit then I guess it is just a sign of the times.....where a Mk5 GTI could be had with change for 20k, now you pay £28k for the Mk7 which is better but not 8k more car.

Personally I would not want to front-load a PCP with £4-5k of my own cash but then I suppose its what you have to do purchase a £50ish K car on PCP for reasonable outlay per month.

How much would it be with a £500-£1k deposit I wonder, nearer £600/month I'd wager if not more.

Wouldnt leasing more likely than not work out cheaper in terms of TCO surely? I think it would for a Golf R....the deals generally arent quite as good as they were but I bet if you shopped around youd be able to get a 2/3 year 10k/annum deal on a Golf R for sub £400/month.

They're pulling your pants down with the Golf R deal. You could lease one for about half what you've been quoted :)

These where the initial figures the Audi dealer quoted from configurator of a Base Spec car with max deposit giving the lowest montly PCP figure via Audi/VW Finance.

Does the above link work for you, as a friend say it's not working?

Yeah, when I looked around it was possible to PCH a Golf R for just north of £300 on 11K miles p.a and 3 months down, that was 24 month deal though.  I dunno why but 24 or 48 month deals are a lot cheaper than 36 month, with what you've found though it does make me wonder what the RS3 would PCH at !!!

Also you've gotta keep looking, deals crop up from time to time, its the one and only reason to listen commercial radio.

Cheapest RS3 deal I've found over the last few weeks has been £389+vat on a 6+23. So not much different to a PCP at the moment.

IIRC, +vat is a BCH and not a PCH

A quick search on contract hire and leasing shows you can have a Golf R estate, with dsg for £270inc vat per month on a 9 +23 on 10k per annum.

Same car on 8k per annum is £255 Inc vat per month.

Not always :) quite often the deal is open to personal hire aswell. The RS3 deal is definitely ok for personal hire, it's just not a great deal!

Yeah and the RS3 ain't getting near that.

I concur.

I managed to get just a little more discount and ordered the RS3... Can't wait!

I've enjoyed the Octavia VRS.... But the time has come to move on...

Shame the don't do a proper Octavia RS!

What deal did you finally get?

How long is the estimated delivery?

I'm waiting on a test drive date at their moment. 12 more months with my 7R and then I need to switch, maybe into the RS3. So need to know roughly how long the wait is :)

Would say the R deal is way high but still RS seems not bad but does need options

Audi dealership are expecting delivery end of Sept / early Oct. How realistic that is time will tell.
