Hi Skoda Entusiasts,

I have this nice little green hot hatch  almost 1 year and I like it so much!

wZa3Zvg8QUE.jpg

I like cars with rally heretage, before buying Skoda Fabia RS, I was trying to buy Subaru Impreza (I love snow rally and i wanted to participate in them), but prices was quite high ( 22.500 USD) for 08 WRX hatch, 03-07 Sti and Evo are cheaper but they are in high taxes category (in Russia taxes are corellated to HP, 300 HP it's about 1700 USD per year and +insurrence 500 USD). In October suddenly dollar and  euro goes up due to oil prices goes down and i had   a little amount of euro's and usd's on my bank account witch helped me  a lot to buy 2011 IRC champion edition Skoda Fabia RS.

Price 10.000 Euro.

I bought it from the dealer only 28.000 km on odo, single owner.

Next day after show room Track day event!

Onboard

I was kinda upset, from stock car perfomance isn't fast like Clio Rs  or Civic Typer R.

-

Turanza useless

Stock brackes fade fast

Car is fat 1340kg!!!

+

DSG in S mode and Motor are awesome!

Comfort as daily driver

Not quite good start, but the time was preety good for an rookie on stock tires.

Winter was boring no ice and snow racing due to DSG+RALLY=Death of the clutch

----------------

Mod time!

----------------

Brakes mod

-Goodrich brakelines

-Ferodo DS2500 pads

-Dot 5.1 TRW

-Ate power disс (stock size)

And after that installement of new brakes I visited  specialist, he adjusted my ESP,ABS and Brake Bias also remaped my steering to Audi TT RS feel.

ECU tune + KN filter and NGK Platinum Spark plugs.

After winter I visited  Dynatek  Belgian tuners wich tuned my ECU to 98Ron Stage 1.

I am as fast as REVO and APR guys but with personal  support service.

Stock  95/98       132KW 180HP 250NM

Stage 1 98RON153KW 208HP 305NM

Tires and Rims (Thx to vRSy)

Was Bridgestone Turanza 195/55/16 -> Now Federal Super Steel 595 RS-R 215/40 R17

That is a really good UHP tires, not so popular like Hankook RS3.

So before 1 stage of Russian Time Attack Championship I prepared my car:

Changed Oil to 5w-40 Shell Perfomance

Fuel Tank of 98RON Shell Ultra

Camber check

The first stage of a season was held on the FIA grade 1 Moscow Raceway curcuit

5 sessions  4 fast laps  and cooldown lap.

My class leaders are well prepared NA's GT86/BRZ,MX-5,Type R's and e36. Also turbo's Seat Ibiza Cupra, BMW 116, Mini JCW.

My results:

2 Place in Monocup (Lost to Seat 3 seconds)

36  in Warm street (NA up to 2,2l, turbo up to 1,8l) Class. (National Fabia RS record time)

Video report

Summary

Brakes are ok,very good pedal feel but only for 2-3 laps after that they fade. Stock suspention is very soft and high.

Straight line speed is good, corner speed is an issue.

Stock Intercooler is ok when the outdoor temp is about 15-25 degrees celcius in hot summer need to be water sprayed (or changed).

I am able to be in tempo of Type R's but in corners my stock suspension doesn't work at all, so much body roll.

Moded BRZ/86 is an another league for sure.

But for the first time ever on such event I am satisfied.

So plan is skip some events and focus on preparing suspension mods.

Target is top 20 and victory in monocup.

DIY How to install clubsport racing belts.

I choosed Italian OMP RACING 4M.

136ec92s-960.jpg

simple tools, ratchet,8mm socket with a torx screws

c9aec92s-960.jpg

the idea was to drill a hole in special harness metall plates and tight them to the stock seats positions.

the sholder belts are connected to ISO fix mounts

The complete look

As a daily I use stock belt, but on racetrack,  body is really unstable in corners and a good racing belts will help to secure driver properly.

From rookie to amature.

Suspension mods are done.

Nordschleife approved:

Bilstein B6 Shocks and HR springs.

Some words about B6+HR as my suspension setup. It's performance is very solid,  less body roll , less understeering and solid while trail bracking no bouncing at all.

My time is  competative , 21 in steet class ( last round i was 40+) and 2 place in monocup but the leader is only 1 second faster earlier the gap was +5 seconds.

Less weight and solid suspension really transform Skoda to another level! (Weight reduction: rear  seats, spare tire  and bumper ballast)

So it was mine first summer autocross ever, national event from URT Subaru Rally team.

Subaru Speed Academy.

There were 2 main classes 4WD and 2WD.

In my group main competitors for the podium  BRZ,GT86,MercC180,MERC220D, Opel Corsa OPC, BMW 328 and Toyota Levin.

In 4wd STi,WRX,JDM Spec-C

Actually in first attempt I was 5th overall, Faster than Spec C,Sti and many others , onthis kind of track skills and tyres+suspension really maters.

I am satisfied with my result P4 on the debut and p11 overall in a good competetive event , for many it was a really surprice of the Skoda perfomance!

Thx for likes and subs.

So trackday season is over and I am starting to plan new budget mods for next season. (need some advice).

Suspension:

1. HR Anti-roll bars kit item number 33325-8

2. Polyurethane bushings

3. Camber adjustable top mounts

Weight managment:

1. Smaller battery.

2. Race seat (according to FIA  standarts)

Engine

Actually I dont won't more power than now and risking to get realibility issues with clutch and other components.

I am thinking about deleting central muffler and changing stock cat to  hi-flow one.

Thinking of oil cooler solution and catch can mod (is there any photo how to do it on cave engines?).

Oil

Now inside my motor Liqui Moly 5w-50 oil. And no more problems with oil consumtion.

Btw I had bad expirience with Motul 5w-30 vw special, during winter changed it to Shell 5w-40.

My oil service interval  8.000 km.

Nice to see you enjoying your Fabia. I read about your car on Mighty Car Mods forum before. Given enough money I feel these twincharger engines will surprise everyone. Plus having others pushing the performance around the world helps us all.

New season , new championship, same goal to be fastest.

1.Round ADM Raceway. Maxpowercars championship.

After last season I decided to change a championship because of balance of perfomance, it is impossible to be in one class with GT86,Renault Clio Cup,Leons, BMW 120d and rule book prohibits to mod car on budget to gain some perfomance , so I changed the championship and class. Now I am in 1.4 Turbo + 1.8 NA  CUP.

15 MAY.

I managed to win my first time attack event.  I dont beat my track record , but I was very close less than 0.1 sec.
But all in all I am very pleased with result, hard work finally resulted in a 1st place.

Round 2. Smolensk Ring.

The battle for first place was during the event. I managed to find optimum tempo  on last lap and won the event.
