Moon White or Candy White

Featured Replies

Trying to decide on whether to go with Moon White with Black Roof or Candy White with Black Roof for the City version of the Yeti. It seems the Black in both cases is the Pearlescent finish. Can't find the combinations to compare - anyone got either of these versions or seen them and would like to comment?

I had a white 'Black Edition' which was moon white.

That had a metallic finish and in my opinion is far nicer than candy white.

Well, we've not got a black roof, but we have got moon white. Every time I see a candy white I'm glad we went for the moon white.

Here's our moon white next to a candy white with black roof:

And another of ours:

Agree the pearlescent looks special and definitely not a 'reps' car look.

Your other option is Candy White with silver roof bars.

Had a photo but will not attach.

Candy White is white, Moon White is slightly blue.

Moon White is slightly blue.

Definitely not!

Moon white has a metallic finish. Up close it's definitely "white" , from a distance you can see a "silvery" effect.

I have a Monte with moon white and black roof.  Love it!!  Stunning yet refined.....also comes up very shiny after washing and I think the metallic repels water more than non-metallic.  Many admirers!!

Nah! pearlescent is like Lalique glass, slight blue sheen.

Don't care how you 'define' pearlescent. That's how my Moon White SE looks to me.

At the end of the day my best recommendation to OP is to go and look on a dealers lot for himself. Doesn't have to be a Yeti. That's what I did.

Had a gander in and out of sun just now - no blue to be seen!!

Moon white isn't pearl effect, it is metallic.

The only pearl effect colour is the Black Magic.

That's what I thought but wasn't 100%.

It is very difficult to define colours by eye. Everyone sees colours differently. In my case when I had a medical for National Service I was told i was colour blind, I didn't accept this as I can see colours quite well. I spent most of my working life repairing electronic equipment where nearly all the components were colour coded. I never blew anything up!

What I should have been told was that I was shade blind which is very different. In my case certain shades of red and green merge into each other.

Over the years, during eye tests, I have been shown the colour test charts, with varying degrees of success. After each test I have been told that it is very unusual to find anyone who doesn't have a colour defect to some degree. Over the years my wife and I have often identified colours differently but it's never been a problem, I just remember to agree with her and all is well. :giggle:

I always fancied the super reflective paint job I saw on a Subaru,

one side accurately reflected the car parked next to it, the other

side the subtle greens of nearby trees.

I passed a printing companys eyesight colour/shades test.

I didn't get the job though, they could not believe that I would

stay with them!

Personally I prefer the Moon white, when the two whites are seen alongside each other in day light, I liken Moon White to teeth whitened white where as candy white seems more creamy.

Moon white certainly looks colder to me.......suits me!

I always thought I preferred Moon White over the Candy White that we went with.

Then one day we parked ours next to a Moon White one - my missus got out, looked at the other Yeti, said words to the effect of "ugh that white looks really cheap and tacky" after which I'm glad we went with candy...

I have gone with candy white - see it correctly on Saturday when I collect it

The moon white  is like the emulsion you could get white with a hint of blue :D

This surprised me:

I thought white was losing its recent popularity, but clearly not!

Common as muck! :D

I do prefer the more creamy whites on cars as I think pure white is too stark.

But as I've never owned white and am unlikely to do so the question is academic to me.

Moon white is more Simon Cowell, Rylan Clark whereas candy white is more natural but still looks white enough!

We'd say Warnie ))))
