We've been happy owners of a 63-plate Monte Carlo TSI estate for the last year or so, but I've finally had enough of the "sporty" ride on the 17" alloys. Also my wife keeps curbing them... I was wondering if anyone knows the part number (or name) for the 16" alloys you could get in europe or could recommend some other 15" or 16" alloys (i gather 15"s fit from other threads on here, plus 14"s might look a bit too tiny!). I love the look of the black alloys/black trim on our white estate, but wonder if silver alloys will still look good.

You will get 16 " VW / Skoda wheels cheep enough in a 5 x 100 PCD if you look in the For Sales, Briskoda etc, 

and have them painted or powder coated Black.

Maybe 16" Alloy Wheels in Black off the Fabia Reaction is an option. (cant remember the name right now.)

Maybe someone will swap with you wheels / tyres from a Reaction for your 17" Alloys.

How about just getting new tyres on your Trinity Alloys in 215/40 R 17 with Rim Protection.

Those help the ride and protect the alloys a bit more and costs like £300 for 4 tyres.

 

or 

A 16" wheel / Tyre package of New Black Wheels will work out cheaper than buying New Skoda / VW Wheels from a Dealer.

MK2 Fabia wheels available were.

15" Fabia Alloy Wheels, Antares in Silver

16" Fabia Alloy Wheels, Atria or Elba in silver.

 

'Simpson Skoda parts' have Black Comet alloys for sale at £696 a set, *Fitted*   LOL,,,,Crazy Price,

(Also available advertised on Mainland Europe, Skoda Eshop.)

and these are reduced in Silver.

Do 215 make a big difference to the ride?? I have 205's on the VRs at the min and whilst I like the sporty ride the roads around mine are awful so may change if they make the ride less crashy

I believe they make a noticeable difference as i have a bad back and the difference from what tyres i have on are pretty obvious to me.

 

The funny thing was at the Launch of the vRS and the Polo GTI the road testers never bothered mentioning the sister cars were on different tyres to the Skoda but otherwise were using the same Platform and Suspension.

Battery in the Boot of the VW, and no Spare wheel, Fabia with Spare Wheel and 25 KG weight bolted to the rear crash bar.

(Very high tech :not:)

Same as they tested the improved riding mk3 Fabia that they were driving on 215 tyres which MK2's never got as OEM fitment.

Wow, thanks for the info GoneOffSki! That was much more fruitful than a couple of my lunch breaks trawling dealer sites and ebay! I will have a look for the Comet alloys too.

 

I'd looked at ebay and quite like the look of some of the A1 alloys on there (also hadn't occurred to me that the alloys from my toledo would be a direct swap) - both'd probably look good in black too (these are nice): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182055942748

& they pretty much hide the view of the Discs / Drums which i think is a good thing.

I see the Wheels / Tyres in post #6 are now at £200, Buy Now.

I went for the A1 alloys on ebay last week, seller dropped them to £200 and I couldn't resist at that price.

And heres the Fabia with the wheels - very pleased with them!

I wonder why Skoda UK keep pushing ultra low profile tyres as standard when the rest of Europe get 60/65 profile tyres. Having cost options of low profile tyres is more logical than imposing them on you and kindly offering to downgrade for free when you've already had to pay for the fancy back breakers.

They do not push them do they.

Only 3,000 mk2 Fabia vRS and 7,000 Monte Carlo sold in the UK with 205/40 R 17 tyres and tens of thousands of other Mk2 Fabia did not have 17" wheels / Tyres.

Mainland Continental Europe vRS / Monte Carlo got the same size 17" wheels.

 

Other world regions like Australia got Monte Carlo Mk2 with 16" Alloys.
