Remapping 1.6 TDI with DSG?

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I was wondering? By remapping engine it is possible to get (some) more HP form basic 1.6 TDI engin with standard 105 HP.

My concern is DSG. Since in 2.0 TDI DSG is different then one fitted with 1.6 TDI engine?

Would releasing more HP possibly damage DSG currently installed in long term use?

And how many HP can be added to 1.6 TDI?

Tnx!

I believe 1.6 remaps comfortably to about 130/140bhp.

The main concern with a DSG box is the torque.

The 7 speed gearbox has a torque limit of 250nm. The 1.6 standard has about 210nm. A remap takes it to about 290nm.

It's still safe though as you're not putting out 290nm of torque all the time and if the gearbox detects too much torque it send a request back to the ECU to reduce it anyway.

This is without getting the DSG remapped too but that doubles the cost and not worth it unless going for big power.
