No accelerator control DSG model

3 year old DSG has twice now refused to have any control of accelerator after normal start.  Everything seems normal, dash indicators are correct at all times starting in either Auto/manual. Accelerator works ok in neutral, just lost in either drive and remains in tickover. Only complete key removal has restored eventual normality, 4 times last time this happened. I wonder if cold weather, plug socket somewhere? When fault disappears all seems very normal - any ideas? Friendly local garage said may take some finding....intermittent so I'd like to find it..

You do not have a DSG, it is a ASG which is a rather different animal.  Both Automated Manuals, and that is about the only similarity.

 

Was the friendly garage a VW Group Specialist or even a Main Dealer, VW, Skoda, SEAT with the gear and an idea on what they were dealing with?

It was our local Little Mote Garage in Eynsford, Kent. Frank the owner has diagnostics, VW, Skoda specialist contacts, has diagnosed all my technical faults with sensors (only 2 in 8 years! - it doesn't go wrong!) on my older Fabia and suggests since it is intermittent so far and we can overcome it so far probably see it get worse & ask around. Seems sensible, probably a waste for them to cost time effort at a busy time for them..

Regardless of being out of Manufacturers Warranty i would get in touch and see what they say.  Things like gearboxes must be fit for purpose not just during the Warranty Period.
