Oil Service Due Message

Featured Replies

Can anyone shed any light on this please. car only 6 months old, 3,800 miles on clock and I am getting

an oil service due message, I thought oil service would be due at regular first service @ 10,000 miles.

If the PDI was done just before you collected the car and the Technician was setting the car on Fixed Servicing @ 9,400 miles / 372 days you had best enquire at the Dealership / Service Manager or Dealer Principal what has gone wrong with the setting.

I only bought the car 3 weeks ago with 3,300 miles on the clock and asked about servicing and they said annually or every 10,000 miles,

Was it first Registered & given its PDI in December 2016 or earlier?

If this is bought from a Skoda Main Dealership and was their or Skodas Demonstrator you need to find out from the Dealership what the story is.

Which Dealership would this be, an Arnold Clark's?

It was first registered at Arnold Clark Finance Ltd and I bought from an Arnold Clark Renault dealership near Glasgow.

Best check when the car was built and delivered into the UK & the PDI done.

Arnold Clark's will tell you the setting can not be changed so have them arrange to carry out a Service / Oil & Filter change at their expense then the Service Interval can be set to 'Fixed Servicing' if you want and a Full Main Dealership History will be in place.

After all a salesperson told you servicing was @ 10,000 miles or annually.  I take it you know the salespersons name,

they are a Arnold Clark employee or were, so Arnold Clark are responsible.

Should be no expense to you for Arnold Clarks to sort it out.

Thanks for that I will contact them tomorrow to find out what the score is.

Phoned dealer and got some dodgy info.

Said to bring it in and they would just reset it. When I said that I was 100 miles away, they suggested I phone Skoda Assist and if they could not sort it they would relay my car to a dealer. I said this was a bit excessive for a service light. They said it was the only way round it.

Phoned Skoda dealer I used when I had my Octavia Estate 2.0L 4x4 and they said you can't call Skoda assist for this problem.

They suggested oil may have gone off and that is why I am getting Oil Service Now warning. Or service data was not set up properly in first place.

They could not find a record of PDI for my car in Skoda data base.

Not sure how to proceed with this. But looks like a 150 mile round trip to nearest dealer.

Email Skoda UK Customer Services and then call, tell the Communications manager they arrange to contact you the story,

(have it in writing in the email.)

then get in writing from the Importer Skoda UK the build date, the imported into the UK Date, the delivery to whichever dealership date and the PDI date.

Then you will have what you need to know.

Contacted Skoda Customer service, they advised that service was set at 18000 miles or 2 years flexible, and that Arnold Clark must have reset it and not updated the records on the database. They said that car should be serviced even though only 3800 miles. Also suggested oil may have deteriorated which caused Oil Service due to come on. They advised that Arnold Clark should foot the bill.

Spoke to the dealer and eventually agreed but I have to take it to nearest Arnold Clark Skoda in Inverness for service. A C Inverness have said that service schedule is set at 10000 miles or annually fixed.

At least it will be resolved but still confused by what service plan I should be on. Can anyone advise on this please.

What days and mileage does it show on the Maxidot for Oil and inspection service?

  • Author

Oil service       -100 miles  251days

Inspection      9600 miles  250 days

Not a service plan,

Fixed or Variable / Flexible servicing,

When AC Inverness do a Major Service for you free tell them if you want it set to 9,400 miles / 372 days or as Skoda are now saying to others,

up to 20,000 miles / 2 years. (Really under 19,000 miles.)

AC will say just due a Minor Service, say you want it done as an Inspection Service because they have wasted your time,

minimum gesture they can make. They are doing this regularly.

Depends on your use and annual mileage if you want the Service Indicator on Fixed or Variable.

The Long Life oil is going to be put in anyway at the service.

Thinking this must have been a lease car as previous owner was Arnold Clark Finance, and they set it to low annual mileage 9600 miles but did not update records.

Still not sure where the 3800 mile oil service comes into it.

I would have thought a demonstrator, but it can be a courtesy car or any such.

They used to put cars in various employees names as Registered Keepers, the Finance Director or whoever.

Hope all is sorted and watch them in Inverness, no different from other AC Dealerships.

After this service is done free go elsewhere for servicing, you can do better than them by far.

Would you suggest a non AC Skoda dealership for servicing, or a VAG specialist or a reliable independant.

I used Thomson and Potter when I had my Octavia but they are a bit far away but had a run in with AC Inverness when they took over Delmore Cars.

Quoted a price for major service then carried out minor service.

But at least I am not paying this time.

Not Parks of Hamilton in Inverness....

Hawco VW, or maybe if going south Skoda Specialist cars Perth. That was Thomson & Potter (John Clark Group.) Or them in Aberdeen.

Specialist Cars Perth was Thomson and Potter when they were in Burrelton so I will probably use them in future.

I suspect it's on an annual service regime with a glitch in the oil service miles, this is not the first I've seen like that.

I wouldn't go near AC Inverness for servicing.

Henry's Skoda in Glasgow is where I took my last Yeti, even though I live on Skye. I timed it for when I was down in Glasgow for a weekend.

We have had the "Oil Service Due" warning on the maxidot accompanied by a ding tone every time we start the car,  after covering about 550 miles from brand new.

Apparently the service interval has not been set up correctly, (so who is responsible for setting it up in the first place? ),  and it's infuriating to have to trail back 30+ miles to the dealership just to get it reset.

The car has plenty of good clean oil in it, there has been no need to top up, and we've since covered a further 2,200 miles.

Question.

How long SHOULD  it take to do this? I only ask because if it's more than an hour, while we wait, then we'll have to ask for a courtesy car while our dealer sorts it out. Time is money.... Our money!  I know from previous experience using OBD and Nissan Data Scan systems myself that it's probably likely to be a 5 minute job, but need to know before I book the car in, so I can discuss it with them with some degree of knowledge.

Thanks.

Just contact the Principal Dealer and tell him / her time is money and all that and their employee messed up, so they can send out a technician to do it at your location or the Dealership can compensate you with Fuel and some little gesture.

Management need to learn that they need to have trained staff thinking taking care, paying attention.

If they can not set a Service Indicator after a car arrives and is given a PDI how can you be sure tyre pressures are reset etc.

Thanks. I'll be talking to them tomorrow!

Spoke this morning and took the car over to them for a 2pm 10 minute fix. . They have reset the oil service indicator. The tech over there confirmed that it had been correctly set up at PDI, as they keep records , but that it had somehow glitched at an earlier mileage.

Just have to put it down to a minor teething problem I think. Fortunately, had to go quite close to them today on another matter,  so it fitted in without too much hassle.
