Horn

Featured Replies

As I am sure any of you who have had to use it will agree the horn makes a pathetic noise. Have any of you upgraded yours and if so what did you go for and was it a DIY job or one for the garage?

Ha, thought I was the only one who wants to do this.

The horn is the worst I've ever had on a car... sounds like Noddy's... it's embarrassing!

My previous VW Up! Had a fantastic manly horn, so was disappointed when I heard the Fabia one.

Not good when you want to give an angry blare and instead out comes a child friendly toot.

Its definitely on my list of upgrades.

Unless it's a pig to get to, it's an easy job to upgrade.

Ill let you know when I get it done

It IS a pig to get to. Havent even located it yet....

But otoh does the oem  sound ok to me, it's a two-tone horn. Guess it differs between models.

Mines not a two tone on my Colour Edition unfortunately

Oh thank goodness! It isn't just me that thinks it's the most giggle inducing horn they've ever heard. What were they thinking?

Yep, Noddy's horn, sums it up perfectly.

I am quite liking some of these, far too much to spend on a horn but the Hadley Bully is a serious piece of kit! Doubt there would be room for it under the bonnet.

I have also got a secret craving for a dukes of hazard horn, would have to be on a separate switch of course as wouldn't be road legal to be used as the main horn in the uk.

I assume its the same horn as the one in the Mk2 I used to own, highly embarrassing indeed. The one in my Citigo is much better, strange that it is not used in the latest Fabia as well....

This is i think thread No.4 on here on changing the horn on a All New Fabia Third Generation since 2015.

I always ask why you want the horn to sound different ?,

have you heard it from outside the car as a pedestrian or cyclist does, or is it other car drivers you want

to be warning or annoying, or just let people know you have arrived to collect them.

Those with 1.4 TDI's hardly need a horn as they hear the clatter and think, taxis here.

Lots of people never use a horn from one year to the next and only try them after 3 years when a MOT is due.

Rant over,

but horns really annoy me especially if drivers start using them and everyone looks about to see who is doing what and it is more likely to cause accidents than if they were just patient.

I gather the horn is under the battery platform. Unfortunately, I didn't have the presence of mind to see what's involved in removing it, when the battery was out to replace the headlight bulbs (I was too busy cursing and cutting streaky rashers off my hands).

Is it true that Fabias in some markets ( Scandinavia ? ) have twin horns? Think someone on here mentioned that.

It should, at very least, be available as an option.

When I got the car first, the sales manager at the Skoda dealer rang to enquire how things were going with the car, and part of my response included asking him to listen to the horn, over the phone. As soon as he heard it - he creased himself in laughter. Not encouraging, when the guy who sold you the damn thing, nearly wets himself laughing at it !

Horn is real useful when someone tries to move into your lane, when they evidently have not checked their mirror, or their blind spot. Seems to happen here frequently. Particularly frightening on the motorway.

It's such an embarrassing sound, that horn. But it takes too long to roll the window down and yell.

It's Denmark get the two tone horn :

So - it's not out of the question for it to be offered as an option.

In the UK some Mk2 Fabia got twin horns, sounding them is no guarantee that people might not still drive into you.

Yes! Horn is one of the worst things in Fabia.. it's really embarrassing when you have to use it on someone and it sounds childish...

I think the first horn in the link that @chieflordy posted above already sounds good!  FIAMM AM80S 12v  --- not sure what kind of horn it'd have to be to fit into a Fabia tho?

On that note...  :D:D

So, has anyone found exactly where this evil little bugger is?

I'm happy to have a crack at replacing it if it isn't too knuckle-scrapingly hidden, and I'll happily post some pix of the process.

Aren't they behind the n/s fog light or blanking grill
