Windscreen Factory Suction Cup Marks

Featured Replies

Anyone got any tips on how to remove from the inside of the windscreen the suction cup marks.

The car is but a month old (built to order) and with the cold weather two large perfect suction cup marks appear when the screen is fogged in the centre of the screen below the interior mirror.

Dealer's valet thought today they removed them today but they are still there.

Autoglym Car Glass Polish also Fast Glass don't touch them.

Going to call dealer tomorrow to see their thoughts but any insights much appreciated.

They are not visible unless eg glass is misty or something like Autoglym Car Glass Polish is applied they then appear in perfect form.  There is also a noticeable rough feel maybe like glue to the glass where the circles are.

Have you tried one of the IPA based products?

The only proprietary product I've seen http://www.ritec.co.uk/other-products/ritepolish  - A mildly abrasive cleaner, highly effective for the removal of marks left by suction lifters on glass.

However in the light of the  price at https://www.wholesaleglasscompany.co.uk/acatalog/Ritec-Ritepolish-Abrasive-Cleaner.html#SID=169 of £24.31 for 500ml I wonder if am email to Ritec "Lots of Skoda owners with this problem etc. A sample to see if it is a solution etc." might get a result

Clay bar with glass cleaner to lubricate

On my 230, when it's cold and the inside of windscreen fogs up this appears until the screen has  been cleared by the blowers.

I am sorry for asking, but why would you drive with mist on the windshield ? If it does disappear during normal operation of the car, I wouldn't be worried about.

Interesting about A/C of RS230, it actually takes care about mist and humid inside the cabin. I have never needed so far to push "demisting" button, unlike on the black 2.0 TDI Elegance we own since 2013.

Sounds like a waste of good beer.

As long as it helps the OP lol. ;)

We had an Altea with the same type of shipping document marks in the screen as Auric's. It was still visible after 10 years when misted up inside. Never a problem dry.
