Silly question...How do I find out if my Octavia 1.6 tdi (2012) has one or do they all have this? 

Yes, they all have one. It is an E 189 engine. You can check the build list in the spare wheel area or in the handbook as a double check. I can't rememember the code off hand but I think it starts with a 9 for a DPF. 

Have you had the emission fix done? If so you should be able to get a new DPF under trust building measures if it has failed.

Thanks for that..it now appears the DPF is fine...what is causing my excessive fuel consumption ???? AND I mean excessive .

Coolant temp sensor can mess with fueling, not that expensive to do either
