I got two years warranty on my 2013     Fabia estate when the main dealer made a mistake; it should have been only one. I thought that was really  good until this week when my heater fan failed on 3 of its 4 positions. I contacted the main dealer to ask whether the warranty included that. I thought it might well not be  but I did expect a clear response one way or the other. I didnt get a straight answer when I phoned the service department so I tried the salesperson who sold me the car: at least he gave me the correct information!  This dealer said it had to be booked in and investigated. All warranty work was in the hands of a warranty company; I now know its Skoda. The dealer has to ask Skoda whether the work can be done free of charge and it is Skoda who has the last word. I thought I had a warranty with the supplying dealer but I dont and the warranty is as much use as a chocolate teapot in my opinion. I feel I was misled and have remonstrated with the dealer but I dont expect any admission that the whole process is flawed. I am sure many people just sell their Skodas, even at a loss or live with faults because the whole process is so drawn out and so uncertain.  The dealer cant or wont say how long this process takes and in the meantime your fault continues. Its not too bad with a faulty heater fan but it could be something that disables your car completely but you still have to wait while this joke of a process goes on. There is even a clause in the warranty that says diagnosis charges will not be met if the claim is rejected so I could have been charged for the privilege of having my claim refused! I have booked in at my normal local independent to get it sorted as they dont mess around like that. I think the whole Skoda used warranty needs revisiting but I am not holding my breath. This has been my first Skoda and  it will be my last. Its just pointless having a used Skoda warranty, so very disappointing.

Very well put.

The Skoda warranty is a joke, and not worth the paper it is printed on. This is compounded by a supposed service backup group - staffed by people who do not know their product. The lack of knowledge of many dealership 'technicians' about the various quirks and characteristics of the skoda range is unbelievable at times.

Skoda policy (or is it Dealer policy?) appears to be - keep them waiting until they get fed up and go away - problem solved!)

As an aside, there is far more knowledge to be found at VW dealerships OR Indy VW specialists - their level of training and experience far exceeds the Skoda dealerships.

According to Transcity Skoda, Walthamstow, ANY warranty claim HAS to be checked first. I had to replace the wiper arm linkage after the first replacement failed within the 2 year warranty period given on new parts. I ended up just buying a new one as to claim, I would have had to book the car in for an inspection. They would then have to dismantle, inspect and have the claim verified to supply a replacement part. Now, how the part could fail is basically through using the wipers. The little sockets wear down and then keep popping out. Its a common fault so to go through this process would cost hundreds of pounds where they could just have bit their lips, supplied the part and had a happy customer! I did say to them if the new one fails, I will hold them to the work needed and absolutely INSIST they strip, inspect and replace the part, just to inconvenience them. However, whilst waiting for the new part, I obtained a clip from EBAY that goes over the offending joint and simply won't allow the joint to pop off, no matter how loose it is. Never failed since!

They need paid for their labour and the parts supplied.  They are your agent and the Warranty Underwriters (Insurers)  it is not them that provides the Warranty Policy / Insurance.

The 2 year Genuine Parts Warranty is with the Parts Supplier.   They are replacing/ paying for parts and the Labour.

Yes you might be told you have to pay for the diagnosis, but when a part / replacement part is faulty you claim back your expense as they are the Warranty / Guarantee provider.

Their cost not yours.   The T&C's should clearly be set out.
