I know this isn't Yeti stuff but I thought this is where I'll get most useful help.

Does anyone know of a similar forum for VWs as I've a Golf Plus that I want to sell.

Thanks, Steve.

BRISKODA Car For Sales is a good place to advertise for a very reasonable price.

You have discounted AutoTrader?

The wider exposure might well compensate for the higher cost.

True, but you only need one buyer and people here usually are buying if replying.   Answering the phone all day to people wanting to sell or advertise for the car you have on Autotrader is a PITA.   But if you get a sale and your price then good.

sorry, if it appears private selling on AutoTrader can be a PITA - wasn't aware as no previous selling experience, merely window gazing.

have you looked at (again no actual experience - merely Googled)

vwaudiforum.co.uk

vwforum.co.uk

uk-mkivs.net

their home pages allow brand & model selections and mkiv, mkv, mkvi, mkvii etc.etc

Thanks for the advice, I haven't totally discounted unto trader but I also find the cold calls a PITA.

i did try one VW forum but when confirming my new account I ended up with a Facebook account I didn't ask for or want. It took ages to figure out how to delete it again, don't want that to happen again, hence the request for advice.

In my experience, AutoTrader are a PITA even if you advertised elsewhere.

A neighbour sold his Golf through e-bay, found a buyer who lived locally and everything seemed to go okay. We buy any car is the simplest system but you will certainly get a lower price - but absolutely no hassle, if you are selling to buy another car then generally a trade-in is least problematic and matches we-buy-any-car web sites, again lower price but absolutely no hassle and you simply drive in with one car and drive out with the other.

If you are on facebook, there are generally loads of selling groups for your area - some specifically for cars. Always worth a punt for free :-)

Thanks for all the advice.

I am very familiar (too familiar unfortunately!) with the trade-in route and would prefer to sell privately  (usually a better price is achievable). For the sort of car this is, the selling sites see the age and mileage and offer a pittance. I don't use Facebook so eBay is a possibility but I don't use that as a seller (yet). I feared that Briskoda was only for Skoda cars, this is a possibility.

Too many options, but one of the problems when one has a high mileage (but very reliable) car to sell.

Steve

Those 2 links are selling privately.  you are the seller,  they are businesses, they buy, pay you and then never darken your door.

Maybe less than you want, but always worth a try.

I have sold there where no private buyer was wanting an absolute cracking bargain of a wonderful car.

If you look at the BRISKODA Cars for sale not only Skoda's and they sell.

all the best with it.

Thanks AwaoffSki, your previous post arrived while I was trying to type. I'll have a look see.

Classified on ebay, providing the car isn't worth too much (simply because people tend to buy more expensive cars from dealers where they can finance it through a variety of ways).  I've done this several times without any problems.  If the car is worth a fair bit, then trade in but negotiate very hard focusing on the cost to change.
