Fabia vrs mk2 clutch

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows how much clutch packs are for the fabia mk2 vrs. Mine seems to be slipping quite often from 1st to 2nd gear and also when setting off in second gear when the car hasn’t come to a stop. It’s making a juddering sound so kind of thinking the clutch is worn and maybe the flywheel

A normal (Manual gearbox) Clutch for a Fabia will cost around £360 from a clutch repair outlet such as Mr Clutch. Flywheels add quite a chunk more as they are dual mass types so the outlet needs to quote you first as they will almost certainly inspect it prior to re-fitting the new components... Wont want to fit a new clutch to an old worn flywheel as this may just kill the new part again. Main dealers clutches will most likely be around £600 but I would obtain a quote first to be sure!

As you are talking VRS, I am unsure as to if they have upgraded clutches but it is likely they will. This will almost certainly add to the price of the part, if not the actual fitting.

Really, you would be better off asking a few outlets and a main dealer too, just to get the correct quote for your vehicle as things can be quite different from variant to variant.

So a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG.

Pick a number any number for the fitting of clutch packs,

start a 1 thousand plus VAT and do not be surprised if you are at £1,500 or more.

So ask the people you trust to do the work,

A Main Dealership with all the gear and you hope more than an idea, or a VW Specialist / Independent, or a Automatic Gearbox specialist.

?

What age is your car.

Did the DSG need '34F7', and was it done, or is it 2013-2015 & needs '34H5' doing.

Best not go to anyone that knows nothing about the DQ200's.

See the pinned thread at the top, read Sittingbulls experiences, and maybe he can give current Clutch Pack prices, his DSG is getting new ones.

The car is 2012 and have no clue if the 34F7 has been done

Look in the spare tyre well and see if there is a sticker with '34F7' and the date.

look here and see if outstanding for a Service / Recall Action.

Not all did need '34F7' doing and there are some 2012 that did not need '34F7' and some of them are failing around now in 2018.

The link says that there has been no relevant recall for my vin number and this is the sticker in my spare tyre well

A sticker removed though. Just where a Service Campaign Sticker might be put by a technician.

Looks like the Build sticker was moved.

Best ask Skoda UK if it was done.  Or do you have a Service Book, it should be in there.

No nothing in service book and is fully stamped from Skoda garages too

I see you asked about a DSG Oil change back last November.

You had best have your DSG checked out at a Skoda Main Dealership by a Master Tech,

First i would tell Skoda UK Customer Services you are doing,

because there are 2012 DQ200 DSG that never had '34F7' done and 6 years later having issues.

So not the 2010-2011-2012  that had the Service Campaign as might be expected,  the ones that never.

& nothing to do with the 2013-2015 that need '34H5'.

Skoda UK need to start paying attention if a series of DSG's built in 2012 are going to fail sooner or in the not distant future.

Hi Bradbellwood,

Clutch packs for ours, also manufactured in 2012, are being charged to us at £1490. As awaoffski says however there is no consistency to this, a point acknowledged by Skoda UK, who explained it as different dealerships have different labour rates.

Awaoffski is also correct in his advice to begin talking to Skoda UK straight away. They will let you speak to a call handler first, who will be all sweetness and light. But in reality is a buffer protecting not the Customer Relations managers, but the Executive Team led by Rod McLeod. Once the call handler senses that the customer might be looking for some goodwill to assist in meeting the cost of the repair, you will be passed to the CRM. Pay heed to the exact form of words used by them, what they say and what they mean are entirely down to the multiple interpretations that can be caused within the English language. The CRM might on occasion reflect surprise, shock even, that the clutch packs have failed. But as your car is out of warranty, when push comes to shove at his level he will simply state no legal obligation to do anything as car out of warranty. He will refer you to the Motor Ombudsman. Stick to your guns and ask for referral to Executive Team, and do not back down one inch.

When it comes to reporting the issue, they will deny any knowledge of other owners having clutch packs failing. As it happens, ours has been damaged following a misdiagnosis of a symbol by 2 of their dealers within the network leading to fluid from the Mechatronic unit going onto the clutches. The cost of repair for us is over £3k. In between times the dealership also misdiagnosed that it was the gearbox that was the problem and tried to swing us for over £7k to repair. Our case is still rumbling on at Skoda UK and will do so for as long as it takes. You are free to refer to our case as proof of other owners having similar problems.

Good luck.

By way of an update for Danny who is encountering terrible problems with his car and dealer, our car eventually required both mechatronic unit and clutch packs, as opposed to the clutches alone, so the figure above as quoted for clutches at main dealer was part of an overall £3200 bill.

Clutches themselves appear on the invoice as £585 plus vat.

£700 for the uprated clutch with the Kevlar plates

£280 for the LUK clutch

£300 for Sachs

£400-800 for the Exedy equivalent
