how to lower Fabia 2012

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Can someone paste a how to link to lower a Fabia VRS 2012 please?

Ive searched the forum... but even the photos Ive found in posts are just of a Photo bucket icon. No actual photos.

Thanks heaps everyone

Welcome.

Do you just want picture or what springs to use.

For pictures look up at the top of the page at the Fabia vRS Owners Register,

or on google images m search Lowered Mk2 Fabia vrs or Briskoda Fabia vRS.    Those pictures will take you to Briskoda threads on lowering which there are many of.

Do you want to know which springs and what heights?

Also the Fabia Mk2 Project section has members cars with pictures and descriptions on what parts used.

Sorry... should of been a bit clearer.

I just had the H&R springs delivered. So I have jacked up the front end. Just dont want to do more work than I have too. Does the big torque bolt come out from the base... sway bar link off? Will the CV joint lower down ... and fall into a million pieces when I do this?

Just a basic how too.

Ill will look for the project section.

Thanks Awaoffski

there is some photo's of lowering from page 6, but dont remember seeing a 'how to actually do it' Left mine to tuning shop and it was coilovers.

The only photos I saw were of the cars themselves.... not inside the wheel arch.

Dont know if this is what you are looking for.. so you want to change the springs by yourself?

Yeah doing it myself.

Do i have to remove the 3 nuts at the bottom control arm? Do i need to remove both nuts on the sway bar linkage... top and bottom one?

TIA

I found that link earlier. Talks in riddles. Haha. Wish they would use english. Lol

My real issue is getting the sway bar linkage off / out. Is the whole linkage coming off? Or is the only the top one  coming out/off. If so.. how does it come off? Its under tension!!

Strut bolt is out... tie rod end is off.

Cant help you, a shop changed my springs, take a look at this post, its from the MK I but maybe it can help you.

And this one.

And this one.

Again its for the MK I dont know if its the same procedure.

With H&R after looking at previous owners on the forum Id say whilst doing to change the droplinks to shorter ones, Awesome GTi do some for around £30 or you can look into the mark 2 ford Mondeo ones which are cheaper.

Thanks for the tip Mr j

Whats the purpose for this? Better ride....  or for durability of suspension?

The H&R are a 40mm drop any more after 30mm often than not other members have had camber issues and have gone through many front tyres. Make sure you get a full alignment check after the suspension settles down.

All you have to do is undo the drop links, then the spline drive bolt and nut that holds the strut in the hub assembly. Separate the hub assembly with the separator tool and jack up the strut from the bottom and the whole strut will come out. No need to remove arb or drive shafts.

Does that make sense

Similar to this

Undo 10-11 then put the separator in the split in the hub where but goes through then jack the strut out of the hub assembly

then when it’s off you need spring compressors etc to get the top bearing assembly off.. I also have these brand new poly Bush top mounts for sale. Might as well fit them when you do springs ;-)

All very good info.

Thanks heaps everyone.

I decided to get someone to do it. I didn't really have those special tools to do it.  I got it back today... and it looks great.

Thanks again for the good advice

Hey there, I've decided to replace my suspension with Eibach springs, 20mm drop front and rear. This forum has been very useful, thanks all for your posts. I am finding the following link really useful too

I'll post the outcome in a few days. Cheers

Also relied on the following post for the rear springs

The Eibach's dropped the gap between the arch and tyre by about 50%. Lowered but not dumped.

Update: I'm loving the Eibach lowered springs with the stock shocks! Perhaps it's because our roads are so good. The car handles so much better! A highly recommended mod.

I've seen of people run 50-80mm lower with no issues apart from the obvious wheel buffing, camber wasn't really an issue however after yo go lower 40mm you need to start replacing drop links mas the oem are too short.
