If it’s down to a component supplier I wonder who.

Skoda launched the All New 3rd Generation Fabia in 2014 with a 1.4TDI 3 cylinder engine, nothing so technically advanced,

and somehow they then made out the coolant was at fault when there were water pump failures.

So these simple small diesel engines required a change of coolant from that which is used across the rest of the VW Group Engines. (the engine they are now discontinuing.)

Vorsprung durch technik.

How far back do VAG electric pumps go?.

VW Go back as far as since they changed from Air Cooled engines they still can not keep liquid in engines and H2o out of cabins.

Water / Coolant pumps of what ever types seem to be beyond them sourcing reliable ones & ones with any sort of longevity.

TDI Water Pump premature failures have still been happening with Euro 6 Emission Skoda & other VW Models.

They have to cool their EV's Motors / Powerpacks when eventually they start producing them in any numbers and with bigger batteries / motors.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.   Better ask the Japanese how we will do that!

But it’s not their fault, never is and their book of excuses will give customers plenty of reasons why .

Novel idea- fit a bilge pump in the Fabia cabin to keep the engine topped up

?

Does anyone know,

are these Coolant Pumps in the Audi petrol turbo engines that are in the recall in the USA / Canada not also in Skoda, VW & SEAT's in other world regions like Europe / UK?

I get the impression the endurance testing is done on Audi by the business owners (pardon my cynicism) and when they survive/iron out the problems that they go into VWs then ultimately Skoda.

Thats why Skoda is regarded as particularly reliable within the VAG range.

Maybe if Skoda were sold in the USA so people owned them then the recalls would apply just the same.
