Hello all,

what is the best fuel to use for the mk2 Fabia vRS, seen plenty of conflicting ideas, what does everyone use? (Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere)

I always used Super unleaded in my Ex 60 plate Fabia MKII Vrs.  She loved Tesco Momentum 99 Ron.

** Other Supermarkets and Brands of Super Unleaded and ordinary unleaded is available **

Shell Nitro, Tesco momentum if im desperate

Answer to question.

Hiperflo 250 102 ron,

but that will cost you twice as much as Tesco Momentum 99 or Costco 99 ron (Minimum)    & On Continental Europe 100-102 ron pump fuel.

Super Unleaded Tesco & Costco & Esso (97 ron) Same base fuel as Shell V-Power Nitro +,  Imported in the same tankers as Greenergy & Royal Dutch Shell share facilities and storage.

Nothing special about Shell V-Power Nitro+ to have you pay 10 pence a litre more for secret detergents that are not required.

*** Engines that can suffer bore wash need Long Life Oil and Secret Detergents like they need a hole in a piston,

and that is exactly what VW's recommended spark plugs, Castrol 5w 30 FS LL & Shell V-Power Nitro+ can give you IME.***

Thanks for the advice folks, much appreciated

I've been using Costco Kirkland super unleaded for quite a few months now, that's 99 ron and the car loves it. Seem to be getting decent mpg too.

Always ran mine on standard 95 Ron unleaded and never had a problem.

I've not noticed the usual "Kirkland" brand on our newish Costco pumps, cheapens it a bit, also I didn't spot that it was 99 ron, I've always assumed it was 97>98, so there you go, I need a bit of retraining - should have gone to Specsavers?

Edit:- talking about retraining, Costco should offer a training session for their customers, I've been up against the old "dispensing fuel" too often after landing at a pump - previous customer failed to fit the hose back into its stall correctly it seems, a bit annoying at first when nothing works though! It is usually the people that use the smelly stuff that do that!

I have used 95, 97 & 99 RON fuel from various sources for over 45,000 miles.
Frankly I have never noticed any difference in either performance or consumption figured between any of them.
However, since Skoda recommend the use of 98 RON, by and large I tend to use 97 RON which is widely available - it does the job.
