Wrong plugs! If you have the CBZB engine the OE plugs are NGK IZFR6P7

Only other plugs I've seen officially listed are Bosch FR6HI332 (0242240665)

I find cheapest for genuine plugs is usually Opie Oils

NGK

Bosch

https://www.opieoils.co.uk/search/go?w=0242240665

Make sure you select the 4 pack as it's cheaper than 4 X single (particularly the Bosch)

Use code ”Briskoda" for 10% off, at the moment if you go for the Bosch alternative there is a 12.5% off promo using "Boschweekend”

Note the Bosch plugs are a mm or two shorter reach than the NGK and I have been unable to establish if the heat range is identical. Apparently the Bosch was fitted OE in some SEAT Ibiza 1.2 tsi's.

BTW my experience is the OE NGK plugs in this engine (CBZB/CBZA) are good for 60,000 miles. Actually ran one set to 85,000 miles!

Sounds good to me .do you know if there pre gapped as I've heard of people using plugs and there fuel consumption going up

Pre gapped, Iridium tip, platinum ground electrode. Just fit and go. Make sure you have a proper plug boot puller, don't pull by the leads cos you'll break them internally.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Spark-Plug-Lead-Tool-VAG-Sealey-VS5293/263458535484

As I said, they last for 60k so don't change them every 20k unless you've modded the engine.

Pre gapped, but you check that the gaps are correct and you put them in carefully so the gap stays correct.

The Service Guidelines on the Spark Plugs is 40,000 miles.

So maybe change them not at 60,000 miles.

Once you have looked you know if you changed them too early, but since out you might as well change them.

The 1.4 TSI Twincharger plugs are the ones that might not last 40,000 miles let alone 20,000 miles, or 1 spark plug might not.

On this engine, with these plugs being iridium tip I'm pretty sure the service interval was originally 60k and that's what my dealer said too and stuck to.

VAG went back to cheaper platinum/platinum plugs on later engines which are faster wearing and so 40k interval.

You have to be pretty hamfisted to alter the gap, the ground electrode is very rigid.

One observation is that spark plug wear is not even, on both our examples, No.3 cylinder wears much more whereas No.4 comes out as new. The clue is the colouration on the plug thread indicating No.3 runs hotter than the others. I have posted photos on a previous thread.

If in doubt, remove and check.

Hello Friends,

I have a Fabia mk2 Monte Carlo 2012 (105hp).

What I understood from you guys is that I must use NGK IZFR6P7 or Bosch FR6HI332 (0242240665) . Is that correct ? and I must change them every 60000 km ?

Also, what do you mean by pre gapped ? I dont know the term :(

Pregapped means they are supplied with the spark gap correctly set to manufacturer requirements. These plugs are only used on these engines so there is no requirement to change the gap

Having said that iirc the NGK are set at 0.7mm and the Bosch at 0.8mm. Don't ask, I don't know why (and don't care and wouldn't worry about it)

XMAN,

Gordon is a Moron that worked at Parks of Hamilton also said the Spark Plugs were good for 60,000 miles or 70,000 miles because Iridium,

but then Skoda Main Dealer Servicing is taking £279 ever 2 years (Major Service) on over 3 year old cars regardless of if the spark plugs get changed every 4 years or 40,000 miles.

You usually see the MPG drop as the plug gap increases, or when you remove the plugs you measure the gap and see if still as they were 40,000 miles previously,

or 60,000 miles ago.

http://skoda.co.uk/finance-and-offers/service-and-maintenance/simply-fixed

(Some will say a Fuel Filter is fitted for life, and some Technicians know it is 'Simply Clever' to replace at 4 years / 40,000 miles at 2nd Major Services.

Dealerships / Manufacturers like long Service Schedules, the ones that mean Fleet Vehicles get nothing much replaced in 3 years.

Lands the first Private Owner with the Cost of replacing Consumables.  Dealers get work, private owners pay for work.

Thanks dude :D  And both Bosh and NGK would last for 60000km ?

In your car yes, because that is less than 38,000 miles.  But then you know when you remove them.

I know from personal experience that NGK will easily, can't comment on the Bosch as I've not used them yet.

Okay, thanks guys :)

I'd like to know also.

Why not just buy them and fit them and let others know if you are needing Spark Plugs?

Local Motor Factors rather than Mail Order unless trusted traders so you do not get Snide Plugs, the market is full of fakes.

IZFR6P7 are the correct Plugs for a CBZB

Try non approved plugs at your own risk.
